ENADA Rimini The show must go on…
A flat vibe, surprisingly low on new product – Italy needs firm direction from the government so the industry can thrive, as ENADA Rimini proved
T
here’s very little wrong with the organization of ENADA; the venue is fine, the exhibition itself is quite pleasingly varied, and there’s a lot of space for
exhibitors and visitors to show their wares and move around comfortably. The only niggles are small things, like very few exhibitors wearing badges. This causes immense frustration when you’re trying to find someone to ask… well, to ask anything at all about product. But aside from that, the exhibition just felt very flat, there was really no buzz about the place. It’s certainly not the fault of the organizers. If anyone is to accept blame, it must be the government for bandying about the idea of new regulations (Comma 6a Plus – aka Comma 6c – anyone?) then leaving the industry in limbo as to when implementation will happen. Nobody will be spending money in the Comma 6a market if they think they’ll have to spend a whole new wad of cash six or twelve months later when they are legally required to overhaul their estate. Everyone seems to accept the new legislation is coming but without any clue on when, it is an understandably cautious market. That said, among the many exhibitors, there was plenty of cause for optimism in the street gaming and VLT markets. The organisers are showing they are in touch with the needs of exhibitors and
visitors though, announcing that next year’s spring event will be three days instead of four, and will stay in midweek which will bring it in line with the format of other major shows in the gaming calendar. Chairman of Rimini Fiera, the event organisers, Lorenzo Cagnoni commented: “The ENADA project stands up to the winds of crisis and in fact, overall, in the two annual editions that are held, manages to have figures that improve. The market remains confident regarding the future and aware that ENADA is the only real business place for the gaming sector’s trade members.” Intralot Gaming Machines rolled up to the show having secured their status as one of the new AWP/VLT concessionaires, and showed a live demonstration of
their most innovative AWP connectivity services. Customers enjoyed the opportunity to get acquainted with the latest, most advanced VLT platforms and terminals, to be used in IGM’s new, state-of-the-art gaming machines network. Costantinos Georgoulas, Intralot Gaming Machines CEO, commented: “We
entered the Italian gaming machines market back in 2009, operating VLTs in more than 100 Italian gaming halls. Today, as a new VLT/AWP concessionaire, we are launching our own services. Having already managed, in just a few months, to sign contracts for more than 10,000 AWPs, our next goal is to become, within the next two years, one of the Italian gaming market leaders operating more than 20,000 terminals.” Big plans but Intralot has plenty of momentum behind it and impressive
technology, so don’t bet against it… Suzo-Happ again demonstrated its commitment to local gaming markets by
attending ENADA Rimini. The company has a strong presence in Italy thanks to the long-established partnership with Comestero. Being the global gaming’s largest component and spare parts supplier,
operators are discovering more and more the solutions they can incorporate in their gaming machines from Suzo-Happ. These include speakers, coin-entry bezels, side lighting and push buttons. Among the solutions Suzo-Happ offers customers, the Flow Hopper is the perfect response to coin pay-out management. The new red coloured bowl symbolises the new AES protocol and is aligned to the Comestero AES coin-handling range. The Flow Hopper is available is a wide range of bowl sizes. The range of toppers from Suzo-Happ provides the ideal top lighting for both
AWPs in the Comma 6a market and VLTs in the Comma 6b market. Such toppers include the Celebration Topper, the Ellipse Topper and the Xenon LED Topper. Harald Wagemaker, Sales Director of Suzo-Happ EMEA, summed up the Rimini
