THE KRÖLLER-MÜLLER
MUSEUM sits in the Veluwe, a region of woods and dunes in the eastern Netherlands, where Helene Kröller-Müeller purchased land with the intent of building a grand museum for her collection of 11,000+ art objects, purchased between 1907 and 1922. They include 91 van Gogh paintings and works by Picasso, Mondriaan and Seurat, and sculpture by Rodin, Moore and others. When hit hard by the Great Depression of 1929, she donated her collection to the Dutch state. Today the works are housed in this museum at the center of De Hoge Veluwe National Park, forming an internationally renowned center of nature, art and architecture – where some 1700 white bicycles are available free to enjoy the park’s quiet and space.
