recommended that you advise your credit card provider of your trip away and that you will be on board a ship and visiting different countries. This will help avoid raising a security alert and your card being declined.
Drinks on board
There is a variety of bars on board each of our ships, offering a range of drinks at competitive prices, and drinks can also be purchased in our restaurants. We reserve the right to take alcohol at the gangway, if brought on board, to return to passengers at the end of their cruise.
Going ashore
Information about the ports In some countries we’ve listed the main destination in the itinerary and shown the port in brackets e.g. Athens (tours from Piraeus). In these circumstances we take you to the port advertised and then offer shore excursions to reach the main destination. Where the ship berths some distance from the port centre, passengers who wish to go ashore independently will usually find local public transport connections and private taxis close to the ship.
At certain ports, we will offer free shuttle buses (where needed or where local transport service restrictions make them necessary).
Getting from ship to shore Wherever possible, your ship will dock at a quayside allowing you to come and go as you please via the ship’s gangway. Sometimes, in smaller ports, the ship will anchor at sea and tenders will offer a free and frequent service ashore, such ports are represented by h symbol.
Depending on the number of people wishing to go ashore, you can normally expect to be ashore about an hour after the time of arrival. The t symbol indicates ports that we usually berth alongside but at which, in exceptional circumstances, we may need to anchor the ship at sea. While the ship is in port, naturally the restaurants, bars and other facilities (except the shops) are available.
Destination safety The Foreign and Commonwealth Office Travel Advice Unit may have issued information about your holiday destination. You are advised to check this information on the internet under the address:
www.fco.gov.uk/ knowbeforeyougo, or by telephone on 020 7238 4503/4504. Alternatively, you can contact the ABTA Information Department on 0901 2015050 (calls are charged at 50p per minute).
Staying connected Whilst sailing with P&O Cruises you can keep in touch with home via the internet, cabin phones and even your mobile. Not only are all of our ships Wi-Fi enabled, allowing you to connect to the Internet using your own electronic devices, but there are also on board computers available for your use. Internet bundles can be purchased at the cyb@centre and charged to your on board account. Please note that connectivity at sea operates via satellite and will not be as fast as your home broadband. Whilst on board our ships you will also be able to receive signal on your mobile phones, however the accessible provider may vary depending on location. In addition, all cabins are equipped with telephones which operate via satellite.
Flights
All flights – please note a) All flight times, air carriers and flight routings subject
to change. Flights will not necessarily be direct or non-stop. P&O Cruises will inform you of any changes.
b) P&O Cruises will determine the city airport e.g. for London: Heathrow, Gatwick, Stansted, Luton or London City airports may be used. All services are sold subject to availability.
c) You may have to transfer, under your own arrangements, between London airports depending on flight allocations obtained by P&O Cruises.
d) Airlines reserve the right to refuse travel on medical grounds. You must notify us of any medical conditions or other requirements for airport assistance (only available after check- in) or special arrangements on your flight. You may be required to provide additional information to the airline in order that they can assess your fitness to fly. Several airlines are unable to carry passengers who require oxygen during part or all of the flight. Those airlines that can offer this service need to have advance notification to make the appropriate arrangements and any costs must be met by the passenger.
e) On selected charter flights, specific seats can be pre-purchased online at approximately 12 weeks before departure. Visit
www.pocruises.co.uk and select Cruise Personaliser. All other seats will be allocated by the airline at check-in. When travelling on scheduled flights, it may be possible to pre-book seats subject to each airline’s policies, over which P&O Cruises has no control. Due to the configuration of the aircraft, it may not always be possible to obtain seats together.
f) Only fully fit and mobile passengers may occupy exit row seats.
g) All flights are non-smoking.
h) For long haul flights, if you have any special dietary requirements, including child meal requests, please advise us at the time of booking or at least 7 days prior to travel. We are unable to guarantee that all requests can be met.
i) Any amendment or cancellation made more than 61 days prior to departure will incur a charge of £20 per person.
j) Changes made within 61 days of departure will incur both a £20 charge per person, and the full cost of the amended ticket.
k) When you or your Travel Agent make a booking on a P&O Cruises fly-cruise, your confirmation may show a UK air city called ‘QQQ’. This is because we have not finalised the flying arrangements at the time of your booking and cannot give details of the specific UK air city for your flights. A booking with ‘QQQ’ means that you have a confirmed booking including flights, and all people booked under the same booking reference will be allocated the same flights. However, we cannot guarantee that this will be the case for each reference within a group party. The UK air city allocated could be any of the UK air cities we have available for that particular cruise. You will be notified of your specific UK air city at least 7 days prior to departure. P&O Cruises will do its best to allocate a UK air city of your preference, but this cannot be guaranteed.
l) If for any reason, upgraded seats are withdrawn from a particular flight, any upgrade supplement paid for that flight sector will be refunded in full.
Mediterranean fly-cruises – please note The prices of Mediterranean fly-cruise holidays shown in this brochure are detailed as cruise-only, which gives you the flexibility to make your own travel arrangements, or you can choose our Holiday Package Add-on option,
which includes Economy class flights and transfers.
For our Mediterranean fly-cruise season, we use aircraft from reputable charter and scheduled carriers, such as Thomas Cook Airlines, Thomson Airways, EasyJet and British Airways. Departures are available from London, Manchester and Birmingham from £250 per person return.
In addition to this we can also offer flights from alternative UK regional airports subject to availability and airline schedules. Not all UK regional airports are well served with European schedules, so flights may be indirect and it will be necessary in some cases to have an overnight stay in London or at Genoa or Venice – please call our Contact centre on 0843 374 0111 and they will be happy to provide you with a tailored quotation.
Flight upgrades are available for an additional supplement 11 months prior to departure. Upgrades are sold subject to availability.
For passengers who book our Holiday Package Add-on, when embarking or disembarking in Savona, flights will usually operate to Genoa. However on occasion we may have to fly you to Nice or Milan instead. If you are flying on embarkation or disembarkation day, transfers will still be provided. When embarking or disembarking in Venice, flights and transfers will operate to/from Venice or Trieste. Full details of air travel arrangements will be sent to you as soon as they have been finalised.
If you do not take the Holiday Package Add-on option, any flights you take will not form part of the package provided by us and will not be covered by our ATOL protection. You will also need to ensure that you leave sufficient time in each case to reach the ship at least 2 hours before the departure time stated on your tickets. The Holiday Package Add-on option is subject to availability and flight dates and prices may change from those shown.
Exotic fly-cruises – please note The prices of Exotic fly-cruise holidays shown in this brochure are detailed as cruise-only with the cost of our holiday package Add-on shown separately.
If you opt for the Holiday Package Add-on for your Exotic fly-cruise, P&O Cruises will arrange Economy class flights from/to London with reputable scheduled carriers such as Qatar Airways, British Airways and Cathay Pacific. Full details of air travel arrangements will be sent to you as soon as they have been finalised.
We can also offer flights from alternative UK regional airports subject to availability and airline schedules. Departures from these additional regional airports will be indirect and may require an overnight stay either in London or at your destination – please call our Contact centre on 0843 374 0111 and they will be happy to provide you with a tailored quotation.
Flight upgrades are available for an additional supplement 11 months prior to departure. Upgrades are sold subject to availability. Additionally, on flights to/ from Australia or New Zealand, stopovers may be permitted for an additional supplement depending on the flight routings available.
We’d recommend that you take the Holiday Package Add-on option to ensure that you arrive at the ship on time and get home as promptly as possible.
