Aware that a lot of car hire bookings are made at the last minute, the Enterprise Rent-A-Car B2B Booking Tool is based on what it describes as a must: an automated booking process. It’s a facility given an overwhelming thumbs up by rising numbers of clients, both those of Enterprise and its rivals, no matter what their ground transport requirements. Tailored to each company’s needs and
integrated with their travel policy, B2B enables them to define rental parameters for each reservation, with a range of criteria
including length of rental, average CO2 emissions, class of vehicle and rental spend. Says Rob Ingram, director of business
rental at Enterprise: “The system provides essential management information, which gives businesses a better grasp of their people’s mobility practices, providing clues as to how costs can be more closely controlled and contained.” Comprehensive account management,
plus a dedication to green, is also a priority for executive minicab service Embarque, sister company of Carey Worldwide Chauffeur Services. Both were considerations when it launched its new fleet of Prius Plus Hybrid vehicles recently. Available throughout London and the
surrounding area, these offer a substantial reduction in vehicle emissions compared to the company’s previous Ford Galaxy, and to many competitors’ vehicles. The Prius Plus averages 70mpg and can accommodate up to six passengers. Company vice president Greg Mendoza

and, in the world of chauffeur services, has often led the way when it comes to sales and distribution. “Our policy is to ensure that our services are available to our customers on as many
available booking channels as possible, thus making Carey's global chauffeured services as easy to book as flights and hotels,” says Mendoza. “This has been a challenge as the various
distribution channels – primarily the GDS providers – have not considered ground transportation a priority. However, working in conjunction with specially selected technology partners, we now offer a wide variety of booking channels, including GDS and most of the key self-booking tools.” Addison Lee, Europe’s biggest minicab
company, serving 16,000 corporate clients in and around London, also takes care for the environment seriously. Its full management and audits system provides emission reports and advice for clients on ways to improve the efficiency of their ground transportation programmes. The company also offers automatic
corporate travel policy enforcement, with flexible booking rules for account holders. This means the CEO might have the ability to book any car any time of day, while at the foot of the pecking order, a junior employee is only permitted to book standard services during office hours. Addison Lee claims that because the
rules are fully automated and can be amended at any time, the system reassures travel managers that company travel policy is being fully observed. To pick up their wheels from Zipcar, the
world’s largest hourly car hire network, customers can reserve a vehicle online or pick up the phone; while a mobile app allows employees with smartphones to make reservations, lock and unlock a car located close to home – and even honk its horn to help them find it. With over 1,500 vehicles in the UK, Zipcar
operates in London, Bristol, Cambridge and Oxford, and has local authority partnerships in Surrey and Kent. “Convenience is at the heart of what we
