Reply No. 2 Creating A Perfect Seal:

The Remarkable LLFA Compression Tape Rarely does a product offer a genuinely new way to tackle a job. Yet the remarkable LLFA Compression Tape not only achieves this, says Colin Fletcher, Specialised Wiring Accessories Marketing Manager – it does it for several separate trades. Made from an advanced polymer, LLFA

Compression Tape enables plumbers, electricians and others to make repairs instantly, safely and in the most hostile conditions. It’s an extremely strong and fast fusing silicone which enables a highly compressive sheath to be created. When stretched as it is wound round a pipe,

the non-adhesive, water-resistant tape provides immediate high tensile strength that can seal a leaking pipe at mains pressure without the need to turn the water off. The self-fusing layers start bonding together immediately, so no curing time is required. A final layer of tape – applied without stretching – provides protection against abrasion or splits. This sealing capability of at least 10 bars/150 psi, coupled with its ability to work in temperatures from -90°C through to

+260°C, has made LLFA Compression Tape a favourite with some of Canada’s leading natural gas utilities, who are using it for winter repairs. It is also proving popular with those making roadside repairs to automotive cooling systems. Its insulating qualities and ability to keep moisture out are so effective that electricians can use it to repair cables

underwater. Developed for use in radioactive environments, this product is highly UV-resistant and protects against contaminants (so repaired pipes can be buried). The tape is self-extinguishing and will not propagate a flame. It’s simple to apply, too – just overlap it up to the white line printed down the centre and remember to keep stretching it – and it will last for decades. Easy to use, LLFA Compression Tape saves both time and

money. It is perhaps the closest thing to a wonder-product in SWA’s entire range, Colin concludes.
