Autobag puts the brakes on escalating energy costs

witching from shrink wrap to automated bagging has saved one market leading brake and disc pad manufacturer £200/wk in energy costs alone. Highly-reliable Autobag AB 180 and PS 125 OneStep have taken the heat out of the packing line and lead to a 5-fold increase in output. Analysis of packaging needs by Automated

S

Packaging Systems engineers resulted in two semi- automated baggers with in-line printers replacing a single shrink wrapper - a machine that was slow and unpleasant to work with because of the heat it emitted. As a result working conditions are much improved and productivity is up to 20,000 units per week. They bag brake and disc pads on their Autobag systems. What will you bag?™

Tinytag Data Loggers monitor temperatures of goods in storage and transit

or sensitive goods such as food, beverages, pharmaceuticals and other items, accurate monitoring of temperatures during storage and transit is critical. Tinytag data loggers are robust, battery powered devices which help ensure that

F

such items are maintained within industry specified temperature ranges. Recorded data is downloaded via a USB cable to a PC, allowing conditions to be measured, documented, analysed and validated. For example, The Wool Packaging Company uses Tinytag Transit 2 loggers to subject its insulated packaging products, such as Woolcool®, to rigorous temperature trialling. The Wool Packaging Company manufactures insulated packaging which uses sheep’s wool as a natural ‘smart fibre’. The compact and lightweight loggers monitor temperatures at several different locations within an insulated package and also record external ambient temperature for comparison. Alternatively, in larger sites where downloading multiple loggers may be impractical, the Tinytag Radio Data Logging System uses wireless communications to automatically send data to a receiver connected to a PC for immediate viewing.

All electric model extends Brillopak pallet dispenser range

B

rillopak is further extending its range of in-line over conveyor pallet dispensers for the food industry with the introduction of a new all-electric

model. The Brillopak 2010E requires no air supply and is capable of stacking and destacking pallets at up to 120 pallets per hour. Key to its fast speed is its automatic adjustment feature which enables the machine to adapt to different sizes of pallet without the need for any manual adjustment. The

robust design of the pallet dispenser incorporates high quality components including SEW Eurodrive and Norgen, ensuring the machine is capable of reliable 24/7 operation.

Like all Brillopak equipment,

it features compact dimensions to enable it to fit into virtually any factory space combined with the flexibility to cope with short and long runs and the ability to integrate seamlessly with all equipment on the line. Simple controls and easy-to-understand error messaging mean the 2010E can be operated by unskilled staff, while Brillopak’s unique Mem-plus system helps to ensure near instant restarts after any downtime.

Enersys introduces first Lithium-Ion battery for motive power

nerSys® has extended its class-leading Hawker® XFC™ range with two new models, including its first design with advanced Lithium-Ion technology for use in the Motive Power sector. Both batteries are designed for low-duty pallet truck applications where operators want to maintain the availability of the equipment without the complexity and cost of additional infrastructure. The batteries can be recharged at any time irrespective of the state of charge without degrading their long-term performance or reliability. Both technologies have an on-board charger and are ideal for applications with duty cycles lasting up to 45 minutes where periods of inactivity can be used for rapid opportunity charging. This means they are suitable for intermittent or sporadic handling requirements such as offloading delivery vehicles or replenishing displays in busy retail environments. The Hawker XFC-Li is the first motive power battery from EnerSys to utilise advanced lithium-ion technology. It is a 24V battery with 38Ah capacity that incorporates cells with a lithium iron phosphate (LiFePO4) cathode and graphite anode with an inherently safe lithium-ion electrolyte. This delivers significant benefits compared with conventional units including greater power density, longer pack life and excellent performance at low temperatures.

SSI Schaefer showcase LogiMat and

AutoCruiser at IMHX

Schaefer, will be on show at this year’s IMHX. The LogiMat, a goods-to-man picking, space-saving, vertical lift storage system ideal for small parts storage offering a high order picking performance, will be part of an interactive live demonstration of parts picking, transport and assembly for visitors at the show. An alternative to storing and order picking small parts in a compact and ergonomic way, the LogiMat occupies only a small footprint providing 90% storage space saving in comparison to conventional static solutions. Not only does it provide reduced energy costs, its modular design allows the system to be fully adjustable to individual requirements providing numerous design options with the flexibility to extend in the future. The design can be compared to an oversized drawer cabinet with two stacks of trays (one in the front and one in the rear) and between those stacks operates a lift, which extracts individual trays as required and delivers them to the service window.
