Exhibition preview Southern Manufacturing 2013 New vibration shaker now in UK

TÜV SÜD Product Service is investing in a new large vibration shaker said to make it the UK’s leading environmental testing laboratory. For the first time, industry will have access to a testing ‘one-stop-shop’ with three large vibration shakers on a single site, backed up by complimentary environmental testing services, such as climatic, altitude and lightning testing. This service will be promoted at Southern Manufacturing 2013.

A lack of vibration shaker testing capacity, that is required for environmen- tal testing of components and assem- blies, has resulted in missed contractual milestones and financial penalties for many UK manufacturers. TÜV SÜD’s

Showcase of

tooling expertise Industrial Tooling Corporation (ITC) will be demonstrating its range of cutting tools to Southern Manufacturing visitors. On show will be the new range of Widia hole making and tapping prod- ucts. Additionally, ITC will highlight the benefits of its new 5021 Cyber Series of five flute harmonic end mills. The series has been developed to deliver high machining performance and productivity benefits when processing difficult materials.

Complementing the 5021 Series will be the new 6051 Cyber Series of End Mills. Like the 5021 Series, the 6051 is a long length, straight shank solid car- bide cutter with an unequal flute spac- ing and Cupro coating. Alongside these new cutters will be ITC’s new ball nosed cutters for machining intricate profiles, pockets and complex 5-axis compo- nents in extremely hard materials. For the machining of abrasive materi- als and composites, ITC will show its 2111 and 2151 XLS Cyber Series PCD two flute end mills designed for machin- ing graphite, metal matrix and other similarly abrasive materials. For profile machining, ITC will showcase the new 2102 (pic- tured) and 2132 Cyber Series of ball nosed PCD end mills. Subcontractors and general machine shop engineers will be interested in ITC’s new tapping, threading and hole making prod- ucts. Now boasting access to the UK's most comprehensive range of tapping products with a vast stock for immediate delivery, ITC's 36-page tapping catalogue has recently been released. the latest generation Loctite prod- ucts can benefit the entire value chain. Whether the task is in system building, assembly or repair, Loctite engineering adhesives, sealants and surface treatment products are said to improve performance and cut costs. Specifically however, Henkel will demonstrate the impact Loctite adhesives can have on the speedy and cost-effective development of customers’ new products. On show will be the Loctite Macromelt hot- melt adhesives range suitable for creating sealed and trouble-free elec- tronics assemblies. Another new time-saving product on show is Loctite 3090 suitable for fast fixturing and also filling gaps. It provides instant adhesion between most materials including porous substrates. Also featured will be three new ‘instant’ additions to the Henkel Health and Safety range. Henkel (Stand M25) T: 01442 278000 www.loctite.co.uk

Enter 325 Innovations from polymer specialist

Polymer specialist, igus UK (Stand N24), will be showcasing its high performance triboplastic bearings, cables and energy chains at Southern Manufacturing 2013. Visitors will be able to see live demonstrations of its maintenance-free plain, spherical and linear bearings as well as its energy chains and chainflex continuous-flex cables, and meet industry experts to discuss the latest innovations. One of the main highlights at the igus stand is its range of drylin E actuators (left) with polymer bearings and NEMA certified motors. This linear drive is lubricant and mainte- nance-free, compact and light and quiet. drylin E SAW-0630 linear axis is suitable for simple adjustments, feed move- ments and the handling of lightweight components. It is available with a trapezoidal or high-helix thread leadscrew and offers numerous pitches from 1.5mm to 15mm. Also on display will be CFRIP (right), an intelligent solution to strip back long lengths of cable both quickly and easily. With just a few steps, the outer jacket of a CFRIP cable can be opened like a zipper to the desired length. Electrical engineers and panel fitters can save 50 per cent of the cable stripping time igus T: 01604 677240 www.igus.co.uk

Tewkesbury-based aqueous com- ponent cleaning specialist, MecWash, will be exhibiting a Duo 400, one of its best selling aqueous cleaning machines, at Southern Manufacturing. The Duo 400 has been installed in manufacturing facilities across the globe and is said to be a highly versatile cleaning system, suitable for both large components and dense baskets of small parts. It is said to deliver final wash quality with costs more often associated with an intermediate wash. The Duo offers additional bene- fits such as flood/ immersion wash-

ing providing higher standards of cleaning by full solution contact with all component surfaces, and a re-circulating heated spray rinse, which delivers superior surface finish by removing detergent residues left by the wash solution. The rinse stage can also be used to apply a longer term cor- rosion inhibitor for ferrous com- ponents and all wash cycles are finished off with a hot air dry. Weighing 1,500kg, the Duo offers a generous wash chamber, but its footprint is small enough to comfortably fit in a cell. MecWash (Stand T60) T: 01684 271600 mecwash.co.uk Enter 328

Spotlight falls on Industrial lasers

Trumpf is showcasing two distinct pro- duction technologies at Southern Manufacturing 2013, industrial laser systems and mechanical sheet metal- working production.

On stand Q36 the company will focus on its comprehensive solid state laser range including its TruDisk systems for high performance welding and solder- ing and highly productive thin sheet metal cutting. Also featured will be TruDiode that is suitable for welding and soldering. Trumpf has made laser marking fast, economical and reliable, qualities that will be demonstrated on the stand by the TruMark Station 5000. Visitors will also see the latest in Trumpf portable fabrication tools, TruTool. On stand P36 Trumpf will feature the

TruBend 7036. More speed, less weight and easier operation best sum- marise this model. And with maximum productivity the driving force behind its creation, this machine is said to exemplify the dynamic efficiency and superior ergonomics of all the latest generation Trumpf press brakes. Trumpf
