n innovative and cost-effective Linkx gantry palletiser, which occupies no more space than a typical manual palletising station, has proved suitable to meet the needs of Huegli, a global food supplier with international expertise, at its UK plant in Redditch. Huegli’s key requirements for the new

palletiser, which handles outers of a range of powdered food products, were that it should be compact, as space to accommodate it was very limited, yet offer high performance levels and be easy to upgrade as the already strong demand for the company’s products continues to grow. The new Linkx gantry palletiser meets these

requirements. The basic machine has a footprint of just 1,850mm x 2,350mm, yet is capable of handling both Euro and Chep pallets. It operates at up to 15 movements per minute, and incorporates facilities for automatic pallet pattern calculation and set up with manual adjustment, to ensure it delivers optimum results over a wide range of product sizes. Size changes are said to be fast and straight-

forward, and simple, clear controls ensure that the machine is easy to use and that downtime is minimised. The control system, which uses the latest microprocessor-based technology from leading suppliers, incorporates as standard a comprehensive diagnostic system and Ethernet connectivity for remote support.

The basic version of the new Linkx gantry

palletiser, as supplied to Huegli, is designed for loading and unloading with a simple pallet truck, but its modular design means that it can be upgraded easily and inexpensively. Additional options include conveyors, layer pad and pallet dispensers, and facilities for automatic stretch wrapping.

trucks and ReachStackers, is used across the S.A. Talke site for loading, picking, palletising, storing and trans- ferring goods, and stacking containers. The Hyster equipment is said to offer fast handling capabilities, helping to deliver a lower cost of oper- ation to S.A. Talke.

while the same models fitted with push-pull attachments are required for palletising, loading and transferring goods. The Hyster Fortens trucks help to deliver a lower cost of operation through reduced tyre wear thanks, in part, to the electronically controlled DuraMatch transmission and the low maintenance oil immersed brakes. Ergonomic features on the Fortens trucks include a comfortable adjustable seat and armrest which help to enhance driver productivity. The heavy-duty Hyster RS45-31CH ReachStackers support the container handling aspect of the operation. Maximised operator performance is achieved with the Hyster ReachStacker, said to offer class leading lift speeds and excellent visibility from the sliding ‘vista’ cab. S.A. Talke’s demanding 24/7 opera- tion requires the support of reliable materials handling equipment and Hyster works closely with its local distribution partner in the Middle East to help S.A. Talke effectively manage the equipment and to improve overall efficiency. The Hyster equip- ment has been supplied on a full ser- vice contract, including standby replacements and on-site maintenance engineers to ensure the 95 per cent availability target is achieved. Driver training has also been provided to S.A. Talke ’s 1,000 plus drivers.

The Hyster equipment, excellent level of service and dedicated local support, has resulted in a solid relationship between S.A. Talke, Hyster and the local Hyster distribu- tion partner. S.A. Talke is a logistics service provider for the chemical and petrochemical industries and is opera- tionally active in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. S.A. Talke is part of the German

Talke group. The engineering, con- struction and ownership of logistic facilities is an essential element of the core business, and supports the group’s position for outsourcing in the Gulf region, be it integrated within the production facilities or at an off-site location.
