Weidmüller’s DC-UPS safeguards against mains power failures for up to 30 minutes at 40 A
eidmüller's uninterruptible power supply (DC-UPS) ensures a highly available 24V DC power supply for automation applications. A reliable DC-UPS avoids costly machinery and system downtime and keeps safety functions, process controls and communications up and running for a defined period of time. If a power outage occurs at the system input, the DC-UPS reliably provides 24V to the automated components, without interruption, for a pre- defined period of time. This way, machinery and systems can be switched to a defined status or even continue to operate without change. The maintenance-free buffer module is perfect for short interruptions in the range of several 100 milliseconds; depending on usage, customers can get a life time of up to 10 years from the device. The UPS controller, in connection with a battery module, bridges longer mains power failures safely and reliably. This module provides power up to 40 A for 30 minutes or 1 A for 30 hours, depending on the requirement. The temperature compensated charging feature ensures a long battery life. Four finely graded battery modules between 3.4 and 17 Ah offer a tailored solution.
W
The Weidmüller DC-UPS controllers can be installed adjacent to one other, so they take up only 66 mm of width in the cabinet. TÜV certification and the upcoming cURus, cULus approvals facilitate the use of these products around the world. A complete DC-UPS system can be assembled with the UPS controller, the corresponding battery module and the primary power supply. The system provides "back-up power" for automation components in the range of minutes or hours. The modular setup facilitates division of the total load into "unsecured" and "secured" load circuits, so that a smaller UPS can often be utilised. The UPS controllers from Weidmüller feature a convenient status indicator and range settings for custom-fit usage. In addition to the three relay contacts, there are three active transistor outputs available to easily wire an external monitoring unit. What is more, every signal output can be inverted using a DIP switch, ideal for the adaptation to the existing logic. A control input to the battery lock (interlock) makes it possible to freely switch between the UPS and the battery, ensuring technicians can safely work on the controls during service calls. Weidmüller offers a range of battery modules from 3.4 to 17 Ah, equipped with high-quality, maintenance-free AGM VRLA batteries. The temperature sensors
integrated into the battery module can be connected to the DC-UPS via the "temp" input. The DC-UPS then measures the battery temperature and automatically conducts charging voltage according to the temperature compensated charging recognition, which maximises the battery lifetime. There is a charge indicator along with status and error indicators for quick error analysis. The UPS controllers are equipped with innovative charge and discharge monitors. Protective mechanisms against over discharge and deep discharge, reverse polarity and power overload have been implemented. There are currently four battery variants available (24V DC 3.4 Ah/ 7.2 Ah/ 12 Ah/ 17 Ah). The UPS controller, in both the 24V 20A/10A and 24V 40A variants, and the DC BUFFER 24V 20A buffer module, are suitable for use in broad temperature ranges of -25 C to 70 C and can be installed without space between the units. For both variants of UPS controller, four LEDs visually notify the users on site of the following information, among others: battery fill level (tricolour LED, 100% = green; <85% = yellow; <40% = red; <20% flashing red), buffers (yellow LED), alarm (red LED) and switched off (yellow LED). The three status signals (alarm/buffers/charge) can be transmitted for remote monitoring using volt free relay contacts and additional transistor outputs.

DO4000: Made to measure for resistance testing of wind turbine blades
A
ccurate low resistance measurement and improved quality control during the manufacture of turbine blades is provided by the Cropico DO4000 range of high performance, digital milliohmmeters now available from Seaward. The portable and rugged instrument includes a number of advanced features to ensure measurement accuracy. This includes forward and reverse current measurement with auto averaging, true current zero, long scale length and a selectable measurement range from 40mΩ to 4kΩ with respective resolutions between 10 Ω and 1Ω. Within the range, model 4001 also includes temperature compensation, with preset coefficients for copper and aluminium plus user
settable coefficients for other materials. Temperature measurement over the range –50 to +800ºC is also available. Protection up to 415V rms is provided at the measurement terminals and push button operation is achieved easily by clearly marked function controls. Direct reading measured values are displayed on a four-digit LCD display. Over range and low battery indication is also provided and warning LEDs illuminate when an open circuit lead condition is detected. The 4000 series can be supplied with [long leads to allow for accurate measurement of large blades] and a rechargeable battery option includes a battery pack, docking station and charger.

Norbar launch two best-in-class gearboxes
orbar Torque Tools is proud to announce the launch of its HandtorqueTM HT-92 and HandtorqueTM HT-119. Ideal for bolt tightening in confined spaces such as wind turbine towers, both the HT-92 and HT-119 combine new materials, better traceability and are the newest additions to Norbar’s new Compact Series of Handtorque TM Multipliers. Key features of the multipliers include a stainless steel body, a calibration certificate, compact dimensions, lower weight and higher torque output. In comparison to the closest existing model from Norbar’s current range, the HT-30, the HT-92 is smaller in diameter (92mm versus 108mm), lighter (5.4 kg versus 7 kg) and has a 1000 N.m higher torque output at 4000 N.m. The HT-119 with fitted reaction plate is 3.2 kg lighter than the HT60, the closest model in the existing Norbar range, but has a 1000 N.m higher torque output at 7000 N.m. The new multipliers are designed to satisfy customer demand for greater traceability. Every HT-92 and HT-119 will be supplied with a traceable calibration certificate stating its exact ratio. The nominal ratio for the HT-92 and HT-119 will be 25:1 and the calibration certificate will demonstrate that this performance guarantee is delivered within a tolerance band of +/- 4% by stating the exact ratio for every product delivered.
