Monitran introduce new portable Vibration Meter
of vibration, proximity and displacement, has great plans for Southern Manufacturing & Electronics; on 13th and 14th February 2013 at FIVE, Farnborough, UK. Monitran (stand U67) will be using the show to launch its new handheld Vibration Meter. Designed to conform to ISO 10816-3, features will include a crisp, colour LCD display, the ability to store up to 100 readings (acceleration, velocity or displacement) against a real-time clock, a rechargeable battery and a tough rubberised case. Andy Anthony, Monitran’s Managing Director, comments: “As an OEM of accelerometers and an expert in the physics of vibrations, we appreciate what a useful tool a Vibration Meter is for the frontline maintenance engineer.” Monitran’s yet-to-be-named new Vibration Meter will be joining a range of other products to be showcased, including the MTN/5000-16 condition monitoring system launched at last year’s Southern Manufacturing & Electronics. In addition, Monitran’s experts will be on hand to discuss the company’s sensor customisation and turnkey project services.

onitran, a leader in the development and manufacture of transducers for the measurement
hropshire based oil mist extraction manufacturer, Filtermist International will be introducing its latest product development to the UK market at Southern Manufacturing in Farnborough (13th/14th February). Filtermist will be exhibiting on stand Q49 where it will be showcasing a new portable oil mist extraction system, the CSX, as well as its latest range of small centrifugal oil mist extractors – the ‘S’ Series. Filtermist will also be showing products from parent company, Absolent AB. The CSX from Filtermist is a low level combined stand that includes an integral cyclone separator, making it ideal for heavy duty applications such as wet grinding. The system draws the air containing the coolant and grinding dust into the low level stand, where it can be easily removed - the pre-filtered air then passes through the extraction unit as usual, increasing the efficiency of the operation. Whilst ideally suited to grinding, the CSX has also been developed for use in a number of other operations including machining brass and aluminium, which often produce high quantities of small metal chips that can block less robust filter systems.

Mazak to exhibit INTEGREX i-400-S at Southern Manufacturing 2013
he INTEGREX i-400-S is ideally suited to subcontract manufacturing and offers environmentally friendly and energy efficient performance with real versatility. It is capable of completing all turning and machining operations, from raw material to finished component, with just one set-up, one machine and one operator, emphasising Mazak s Done-In-One machining philosophy. The main spindle is equipped with 30kW of power and a maximum rotating speed of 3,300 revs per minute. The milling spindle also offers 26 kW (30 minutes rating) and is capable of 4,000 revs per minute. The INTEGREX i-400-S benefits from a range of ergonomic features, including a larger viewing window following customer feedback and a 19 inch CNC display panel on the Mazatrol Matrix 2 control, which is also height adjustable for ease of operation. Southern Manufacturing is the UK s largest regional manufacturing, electronics and subcontracting exhibition, and will be held at FIVE, Farnborough. During the course of the show the INTEGREX i-400-S will be regularly performing live cutting demonstrations.

Hurco to show compact production solutions
H
urco Europe will show a VM10 vertical machining centre (VMC) and a TM6 CNC lathe at the exhibition in support of its 'compact production solutions' theme.
The company's message is that a huge amount of flexible productivity can be derived from a small space on a shop floor due to the compactness of these and other Hurco machine tools. Within a footprint of nominally 1.8 m by 1.6 m, the
VM10 offers a working volume of 660 x 406 X 508 mm, which is one of the best ratios of any VMC on the market. A 20-station swing-arm toolchanger and 24 m/min rapids help to minimise non-cutting time, while a 762 x 406 mm table with a maximum weight capacity of 340 kg and a 11 kW / 73.6 Nm spindle contribute to a comprehensive package. Likewise, the TM6 slant-bed turning centre has a tiny footprint for its specification, which includes a 6-inch chuck and a maximum cutting diameter of 316 mm. Distance between centres is 403 mm. The machine is ideally sized for even the smallest of shops and is well suited to bar work up to 42 mm diameter. The single-piece bed casting provides excellent control of cutting forces. Chip management is included in the competitive price, as are a 3-jaw chuck and a Renishaw tool presetter.

It’s a process for which Loctite® Macromelt hotmelt adhesives are already proving particularly popular.
The Macromelt range is the
ideal choice for creating sealed and trouble-free electronics assemblies. These adhesives have very short setting times so there is no need for clamps or fixtures and they can be used on a variety of substrates including difficult-to-bond plastics. Crucially they only require low pressure to create the overmould.
The ability to seal delicate
components is a clear benefit of this low pressure process but of even more significance is the impact the technique has on associated development costs.
