We are London Overground Rail Operations Limited (LOROL), the joint venture company combining the expertise of two of the worlds most reliable and customer focused railways – MTR Corporation and Deutche Bahn Ag. We run approximately 875 trains a day on the London Overground network, delivering the London Rail Concession on behalf of Transport for London.


This key role will be responsible for all aspects of rail, services and terminals.


The focus is on ensuring we operate punctually, reliably and in a cost efficient manner. You will work with Freight Operating Companies, Network Rail and other industry stakeholders to develop and promote rail and will proactively lead with the development of new business opportunities. You will monitor and action variances to budget whilst developing opportunities for increasing revenue and margin across the rail business. You will manage the sales pipeline and day to day operation of the rail business including terminals in a safe and cost effective manner. Given the geographical spread of the business extensive UK travel and overnight stays will be required.The successful candidate will have a thorough understanding of the UK rail freight industry having worked extensively in a freight operating environment with operational and commercial skills and experience. You will demonstrate financial and analytical acumen with highly honed negotiation skills and the ability to effectively communicate with colleagues, customers and stakeholders at all levels.

We are seeking an experienced Operations Manager with a proven track record of leading teams to set new standards of operational performance and enhance the travelling experience of the 200,000 Overground customer journeys a week. The ideal candidate will have a background in a combination of real time operations control, performance planning and driver management with considerable experience in the latter and the potential to master all three.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE

Candidates will be driver competent and have a comprehensive knowledge of railway operational standards, procedures, rules, regulations and railway group standards required along with the desire to set new standards of operational performance and customer service.
