By Erica Basnicki

CONCERT SOUND Clair has changed its trading name to Clair UK, further emphasising its role as part of the Clair Global touring/rental PA giant. Aron Ross, Clair UK’s

general manager, commented: “I see our name change as a logical move forward to reinforce our position as part of the Clair Global network. We are still the same individuals and this rebranding simply presents a united front, and underlines that we are delivering

the same service that has been provided in the US and Europe for many years. It’s a name and legacy that we are very proud to share.”

Concert Sound was formed in 1977, and soon after began working closely as the UK touring partner to US-based Clair Brothers. At the end of 2008, Concert Sound joined forces with Switzerland’s AudioRent Clair, becoming the UK wing of the Clair Global family. Most recently, Clair Brothers

Audio Systems, the audio equipment division of Clair Global debuted its new iMicro compact line array system. As reported in PSNEurope (June 2012) Jethro Tull’s Ian Anderson was the first to take the system on tour in the UK.

Among Clair’s current touring clients are Fleetwood Mac, Jay-Z and Kanye West and Sir Elton John. n www.clairglobal.co.uk

The sold out PLASA Focus: Leeds has announced details of its professional development programme, taking place on Tuesday 30 April and Wednesday 1 May, 2013. On the audio side, Oran Burns, education and application support at d&b, will present ‘Demystifying Audio Techniques’; a practical, interactive session on the principles of acoustics in order to discover what constitutes a well- behaved loudspeaker and how it affects what we hear.

Also presenting from d&b is Steve Jones, who takes on the age-old question of ‘Why Size Matters?’ using a combination of lively discussion, practical experiments and visual support. Wrapping up the audio presentations is award-winning sound designer Gareth Fry, who will share some of the techniques he uses to manipulate audio in ‘Creative Manipulation of Sounds’. www.plasafocus.com/leeds
