For over 50 years, Niagara Cutter has been a world leader in the engineering and manufacturing of high performance end mills for the medical, aerospace, electronics and many other manufacturing segments of industry. With an extensive product range of more than 25,000 variations of tools, Niagara Cutter also manufactures specialty and proprietary tooling for specific requirements. Producing end mills in solid carbide, HSCO and HSS, with optional coatings of AlCrN, AlTiN, TiAlN, TiCN, TiN or CVD diamond. Combined with their extensive research and development, and design and engineering capabilities, Niagara Cutter’s specially designed tools have proven to promote longer tool life, increase production and reduce overall costs for difficult machining processes.
MEETING AEROSPACE CHALLENGES
Niagara Cutter has developed end mills specifically engineered to meet the new and developing challenges of the aerospace industry. Airframe manufacturers are faced with new challenges of machining exotic alloys and CRPF’s (Carbon Reinforced Polymer Fibers). These new materials are stronger and lighter than previously used materials and Niagara Cutter has answered these challenges with specially engineered tool geometries combined with CVD diamond coatings to deliver unprecedented resistance to tool wear in abrasive CRPF materials. If your work piece is titanium such as 5553 and 6AL4V, the patented Niagara Cutter Stabilizer™ with its variable geometry design and engineered PVD coatings has proven to increase milling efficiency.
INTRODUCING NEW HIGH PERFORMANCE THREAD MILLS
With an expanding need for solutions to the challenges associated with producing threads in composite materials, Niagara Cutter’s new line of High Performance Carbide Thread Mills for producing higher quality threads offers increased productivity and consistent performance. Available in a wide range of thread sizes and diameters, these specially designed thread mills offer a more productive and precise solution than traditional tapping while providing higher cutting speeds and feeds and longer tool life. Niagara offers several options including AlCrN coating, CVD diamond coating, extended reach and coolant-through tooling.
MICRO MILLING SOLUTIONS
Engineered, designed and tested to meet the demanding requirements for medical, aerospace and electronics manufacturing, Niagara Cutter’s proprietary micro-decimal end mills are developed to meet the unique challenges and specifications for high performance tooling needs. In addition to proprietary grades, Niagara offers a wide selection of micro tools in one-thousandths increments ranging from .005” to .060” manufactured from the highest quality sub-micron carbide substrate and in a wide range of geometries and coatings for overall increased consistency, accuracy and production.
MACHINING COMPOSITES WITH DIAMOND END MILLS
Niagara Cutter’s expanded line of CVD diamond coated products are engineered specifically for machining high performance composites and their demanding applications. The unique micro and nano-crystalline matrix creates a hard, abrasion resistant coating. Whether you are machining graphite, green ceramics or composite materials such as MMC or CFRP, Niagara can meet these needs with their full line of diamond coated tools including DiamondGraphite™(DG) tools specifically designed and engineered to provide unprecedented tool life and performance for machining graphite.
Niagara’s line of DiamondPlus™coated tools have also been developed for difficult machining applications such as high silicon aluminum, carbon fiber composites, metal matrix composites, plastics and other non-ferrous materials and is much more resistant to abrasive wear than traditional diamond coatings.
To address the growing need for diamond tooling in other specialized machining operations, Niagara Cutter has developed and expanded their CVD diamond coating offering to include reduced diameter micro tooling with extended reach end mills in standard sizes as well as the design and engineering of proprietary grade diamond coated micro tools to meet the growing demands for specialized machining operations that require these tools for better production.
