NORTH AMERICA Moving the Story Forward

Everyone loves a great story. When you get right down to it, storytelling is so much a part of what memorable travel is all about... from all the wonderful anecdotes you gather in the places you visit throughout your trip, to the tales you tell upon your return. But what we love even more is finding new and better ways to tell an already good story. It’s what we do.

We’ve collected a wealth of stories on our travels along North America’s back roads, rivers, desert trails and mountain paths, and even more innovative ways to share them.

There are lots of ways to explore Alaska’s vast wilderness – by floatplane, jet boat, rail and more – and we do them all. But meeting a woman who is truly a modern pioneer at her homestead, where she reveals how her family has lived off the land for decades by farming, hunting, trapping, and home-schooling their children – that’s the kind of storytelling we love to do... where you become part of the story, too.

That’s why you’ll hike among the hoodoos of Bryce Canyon with the “Dawn Patrol”... go deep into Louisiana’s bayous with a local guide who calls them home... peer into the life of Mark Twain on a Mississippi steamboat and at his Connecticut home... kick it up at a “kitchen party” on Cape Breton Island... or see Yosemite from the perspective of a “Buffalo Soldier” who blazed the park’s trails in its earliest days. Just a few of the ways we’ve found to move the story forward...

MEET ME IN MANITOBA Yes... expect the polar bears of Churchill to come over and check you out, too, on Manitoba: Polar Bear Adventure. Since we dropped in on them, they feel it’s only proper that they show us a little hospitality...

DAYLIGHT OVER DENALI Flightseeing by floatplane over the base of North America’s highest mountain – Mt. McKinley in Denali National Park – is just part of yet another beautiful day in Grand Alaska. Guest Stamatios Mylonakis sent us this amazing view of Denali (“the Great One” to the locals) as seen from the air.

TALL SHIP SAILING ON SAGINAW BAY... It may sound like a tongue-twister, but it’s one of the highlights that guests like those pictured here enjoy on our Michigan’s Lakes & Mackinac Island trip... cruising up the Saginaw River to Saginaw Bay aboard a masted “Tall Ship” schooner. Just try to say it five times fast...
