The Dollywood Company has been forced to abandon its plans to build a $50 million waterpark at the Gaylord Opryland Resort & Convention Center in Nashville, Tennessee. The split follows the decision by Gaylord shareholders to assign its day-to-day hotel operations to Marriott International.

Ray’s grandchildren, Rocky and Anna, get separated inside the aquarium and are at danger from various predators. One film is really action- packed, and perhaps better suited to theme parks, whereas the other is more suitable for the institutions market (museums and aquariums). As it happens, we’ve been able to sell them both to each market. We are working on a couple more feature films right now including Enchaunted House, inspired by our popular Haunted House attraction film from 2001, and a new live action film called African Safari 3D. Both these will, of course, have their own 4D versions for the theme park and attractions market. I think the success of Turtle Vision, and I hope Turtle Vision 2 3D, is down to a combination of things – the characters, the storylines, the production values and the quality of the 3D imagery. We have been doing this for 20 years, so it’s a question of craftsmanship! With a bit of luck we can go on to produce Turtle Vision and Sammy’s Adventures 3, 4 and – who knows? – for the enjoyment of both movie-goers and theme park fans for many years to come. nwave.com

Chance will continue to provide spare parts and technical service for all rides built under the licence agreement.

Operator Paragon Entertainment is investing £1 million ($1.6m/€1.2m) in the 20,000 sq ft facility, which will eventually become part of a chain of Quest outlets.

Moser’s Rides is to supply a Maverick (Top Spin) and Sidewinder (Frisbee) to Sega Republic at the Dubai Mall, United Arab Emirates.

The OCT Group is planning to add a Playa Maya waterpark at Happy Valley Shanghai. The RMB 600 million ($95m) project is scheduled to debut this coming May, featuring 12 key attractions. OCT already operates a Playa Maya waterpark at its original Happy Valley park in Shenzhen, Guangdong Province.

Huss Park Attractions has sold another King Kong ride to a park in Europe, client to be confirmed, as well as securing four new ride sales to China. The German ride designer has announced it also about to update one of its classic rides, the first of several due for a 21st Century overhaul. “They are still reliable rides with good service records, but some of the components are no longer available,” notes Huss CEO Mirko Schulze.
