Adventure World Warsaw update

The developers of Adventure World Warsaw (AWW) held a ceremony last month to mark the handover for construction of their planned theme park and resort in Grodzisk Mazowieck, 50km from the Polish capital. Las Palm and general contractor Imtech Polska signed an agreement on October 15, paving the way for initial work including, among other things, hardening of the temporary access roads and demolition of some existing buildings. Archaeological works on the site are also reported to be in progress.

Outlined as part of the ambitious development is Eastern Europe’s largest theme park, featuring over 50 rides and attractions, an indoor waterpark, entertainment village and two themed hotels. Phase one, including the theme park, is currently scheduled for opening in 2015.

Jora Vision is overseeing all the park’s design and masterplanning, and confirmed suppliers include Vekoma Rides Manufacturing and Mack Rides. Whilst the identity of the project’s investors remains uncertain, investment in phase one is forecast at around €400 million.

Made in Germany Two German ride manufacturers, both based in Bavaria, have recently upgraded their production facilities. Responding to a massive demand for its rollercoasters in recent years, Gerstlauer Amusement Rides has unveiled a new sandblasting and painting facility, following the introduction in 2008 of a new production space dedicated to track manufacturing. Based in Munsterhausen, Gerstlauer took over the former Anton Schwarzkopf factory some years ago, and also employs some of the famed late coaster designer’s engineers.

Maurer Söhne

In Munich, the steel specialist Maurer Söhne has invested millions in the production, automation and quality control technologies of its amusement ride division. Giving a fresh look to one of its large fabrication halls, the new additions ensure Maurer can maintain its high quality standards while increasing productivity and flexibility.

Clearly these two companies, and their various theme park customers around the world, are proud of the tag “Made in Germany.”

PrimePlay in Europe

WhiteWater’s ‘dry’ subsidiary, Prime Play has four new projects underway in Europe. Opening this coming March, the new Puerto Venecia shopping mall in Zaragoza, Spain, is billed as one of the most spectacular in the world. Here Prime Play is installing an “urban family adventure park” including Sky Trail and Sky Tykes ropes course, an Adventure Trail and a double FlowRider surfing simulator. In France, Prime Play is working on a new FEC project with Emmanuel Mongon, of Imaginvest.

Vitam Parc will form part of the Vitam shopping complex close to Lake Geneva, Lake Annecy and Mont-Blanc and feature an indoor climbing area, Ballocity ball play system and integrated birthday party rooms.

The German family park Tripsdrill, about an hour from Stuttgart, will receive a new twist on Ballocity with an integrated Foam Factory and Adventure Trail installation. The park’s owners have constructed a building to house the attraction themed like the local period. Opening soon in Ukraine, PrimePlay is also currently working on its largest ever FEC project, in the city of Kharkov. info@primeplay.com
