TECHNOLOGY: NEW PRODUCTS SMARTDIGITAL MCT-16 SMART-E

IT’S… A high-resolution digital matrix that switches and distributes HDMI up to 100m over a single HDBaseT cable.

DETAILS: The MCT-16 is a compact modular 3U 19in rack-mounted unit that uses dual I/O cards to allow between 2 x 2 to 16 x 16 inputs and outputs to be

specified in a combination of HDMI or Cat5e-8 (HDBaseT) outputs, meaning that it can be configured to meet client needs. According to Smart-e, it can be configured for a variety of applications, from home cinemas and small office solutions, through to digital signage and multi- room corporate comms. It can deliver HDMI,

infrared, RS232 signals and inline power over distances of up to 100m.

HDCP and HDMI compliant, the matrix is compatible with all resolutions up to 4K, including 2K and 1080p, as well as 3D. It also supports Deep Color. Control is via IP (optional),

infrared, RS232 or locally at the front panel. An integrated RS232 passthrough with multiplexer enables effective display management including power control, saving energy and screen life.

versatility. The installer can configure the system to play music, turn on the TV and set a lighting scene, all from one touch.

The entry-level MX-780i is a

wand-style hard button remote control with a 1.5in high-contrast colour OLED interface. It can control up to 255 devices throughout the home, via direct IR or RF to a base station (so a direct line of sight is not required). The MXW-920i is splashproof – a first for URC. It is rated IP54 and JIS Class 4. It displays text on a monochrome LCD and is programmed identically to URC’s MX-900i and KP-900 devices.

ELECTRO-VOICE

IT’S… A passive 12in subwoofer – part of the ZX loudspeaker family.

DETAILS: The ZX1-Sub features the EV-engineered 12in EVS-12S woofer, which operates in the 42Hz-200Hz (-10dB) frequency range and boasts a frequency response of 53Hz-125Hz (-3dB). The nominal impedance of the subwoofer is 8 ohms and its maximum sound pressure level is 127dB. A 15mm-thick internally braced wooden enclosure with two side handles, a structured coating

and a sturdy steel grille are said to ensure reliable performance and rugged durability in day-to-day use. The ZX1-Sub’s two recessed Speakon NL4 connectors are

wired in parallel, permitting the input signal to be looped through and making it possible to operate full-range loudspeakers such as the ZX1 together with the ZX1-Sub using a single amplifier channel.

AND ALSO: With its compact dimensions (40 x 44 x 46cm), the latest member of the ZX series weighs in at just under 20kg.
