HABA
Combining role-play with building blocks, Habaland encourages children to create their own fantasy world and it has welcomed a number of new faces this year.
Suitable for one year olds, the building blocks provide the backdrop for numerous play scenarios including vehicles, people, animals, trees and flowers. New play-sets include further animal characters such as a frog, cow and rabbit, plus additional flower and tree combinations. Haba’s My First Play World Farm is a fully contained farmyard with animals, farmer, tractor and trees. All of the pieces are contained in a box with carry handle, which converts into a barn. There is also a backdrop depicting a

Other sets are available – including the Hall of Mirrors and a 59-piece Castle set.
DKL
DKL Marketing is the exclusive UK distributor of Wonderworld wooden toys, with the range also being backed by a strong eco policy called the Tree Plus Project – for every rubber tree used in manufacture, two more are planted by Wonderworld. Over 16,000 trees were re-planted in 2011, with a target of 17,200 set for this year. Over 70 per cent of packaging is also recycled. Wonderworld produces an extensive
range of wooden toys including mini vehicles, furniture, pre-school, educational and role-play toys. In addition, Wonderworld also has a
range of traditional learning toys such as the new ABC alphabet magnets, Abacus with colourful chunky beads, Counting Ball and the 1-5 Stacker. Rainbow Sound Blocks continue to be popular with their see-through design, as well as the Peek-a-Boo Ball, featuring smiley pop up faces. The Role Play Kitchen range also remains strong, with
GREAT GIZMOS
Tumblekins is a wooden range which the firm says offers much more than the average push-along. The character tumbles and rolls around the vehicle, with a number of new additions introduced so far this year. The open top Town Bus comes with two tumbling passengers; the red Race

and Boxwood, with a choice of different King heights.
Gibsons also produces a range of
traditional games made from re-forested hardwoods. Each product goes through an exhaustive hand finishing process resulting in a smooth and polished finish. Classics include Shut the Box and Chinese Chequers. Dominoes, Cribbage and Mancala are also available. There are four mini Eclipse travel games – Solitaire, Shut the Box, Tiddlywinks and Chinese Chequers. Each wooden game also acts as storage for the pieces and is presented in classic, but contemporary packaging.
OCTOBER 2012
GREEN BOARD GAMES
Launched earlier this year – and having been featured on Cbeebies twice – Robotime continues to be a success story for Green Board Games. To awaken the beasts, simply slot the wooden pieces together, with easy to follow instructions (no glue or tools are needed). Once constructed, the
toys move around and roar – which is automatically activated by movement or sound.
The firm also has four types of planes in its solar aircraft range.
