Ferguson said: “I’ll be looking after the UK and international markets where we have established programmes, so Australia, South Africa, New Zealand, UAE and some areas in Europe. “This will give Darran some breathing space and allow him to work on the real important emerging markets like the US, Canada, Latin America and Asia.”

“I know it may appear sexist to have interview tips for girls, but the fact is that ladies have things to consider that men just don’t.”

So, let’s deal with the shocking truth… women have babies. We all know that prospective

employers are prohibited from asking gender specific questions. But just because the interviewer can’t ask doesn’t mean that they’re not desperate for the answer. My general advice is that you tell the truth in an interview. Now I’m not suggesting you walk into the interview and announce you have no plans to breed, but being a woman of childbearing age puts you at a disadvantage as a candidate. I’m not saying people in toys (or any other market) are sexist, but this is a real cost issue in terms of both money and time. Use language that will put the

interviewer at ease, such as: ‘I am career focused’ or ‘I want to make a long-term commitment to a role’. Your aim as a candidate in an

interview is to get the job offer. Put yourself in the best possible position to do that.
