THIS AUGUST Lego saw the launch of a brand new independent property – Lego Monster Fighters. It features iconic horror themed minifigures including The Mummy, Werewolf and Vampyre, as well as dark and fantastical play themes. The heroic team of Monster Fighters are led by Dr Rodney Rathbone in a bid to save the day from the dark forces at play.
The range is designed to appeal to boys aged seven to ten, and encourages them to play the hero or take on the role of monster in the ultimate battle of good versus evil. The year-long Lego property will showcase seven products, some of which glow in the dark, ranging from £4.99 to £79.99.
Here’s a closer look at two key products from the range…
VAMPYRE CASTLE The castle is where the Vampyre will unite the monsters’ magical moonstones in a terrible ceremony that will cloak the world in darkness

The classic action figure property from the ‘80s is back. Nine Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle action figures will initially launch, but
new waves will be released every eight weeks, with 30 figures due in 2012. Ranging in size from 10cm to 14cm, each figure (£9.99) comes with multiple weapons. The 15cm Deluxe Action Figures (£14.99) will feature sound effects. There are five – Leonardo, Michelangelo, Donatello, Raphael and arch enemy Shredder. Six-inch Collectors Figures for long- term fans will complete the range.
