Surf in safety!

The Anglo-American company Plastex Matting has pioneered a new material to keep surfers out of harm’s way while riding wave simulators, such as WaveLoch’s FlowRider. Placed over metal grates at the back and front of such machines, PillogriD’s features a large open grid and soft vinyl construction combined with high-volume drainage to provide a soft landing. The product, available in prefabricated rolls of a maximum 1-metre (3.3ft) in width, is already in use on attractions in the United States, China, Dubai, Spain, Russia, Australia and Mexico.

Hyland Hills USA

Mile High Flyer, a new HydroMagnetic Rocket water coaster from ProSlide has opened at Hyland Hills Water World, Denver, Colorado. The 1,000ft-long (300m) attraction is the first HydroMagnetic Rocket in the Western United States and marks Hyland Hill’s largest ever single waterpark investment. The experience starts with a ride up conveyor that mimics the clicking sound of an anti-rollback system on a traditional rollercoaster, building the anticipation. Riders then drop through a 180° turn on

board their four-man inline boats at speeds reaching 15 mph (24kmh).

Mile High Flyer features five uphill sections including a "camel-hump" and multiple 180° enclosed sections finishing with a 360° loop. The ride then transitions into a water channel where the boats float to the end of the ride. This not only adds an additional ride element but also assists in maintaining unloading procedures to ensure maximum efficiency.

Hawaiian Falls USA

Continuing its long affiliation with Hawaiian Falls waterparks in Texas, R&R Creative Amusement Designs has this season provided creative, thematic and graphic designs for new attractions at the Roanoke, Garland, Colony and Mansfield waterparks. This included themes, graphics and colour selections for two prototype slides by Splashtacular, the Double Bowlseye and Rush 360. For the new Hawaiian Falls in Waco, Texas (pictured), R&R provided master planning, building and facility themes for all existing and new elements along with all the theme and graphic designs for the park.

Olympia Waterpark Russia

Could this be the most modern outdoor waterpark in Russia? ProSlide thinks so. Located on Black Sea coast near the resort of Anapa, Olympia Waterpark is a five-acre facility that opened this June and was fitted out entirely by the Canadian supplier.

Installations include a Mach 4

complex comprising a Topsy-Turvey funnel slide, BulletBowl and two Pipeline water rides and a 75ft-tall (23m) structure that serves as the starting point for two Plummet and two SuperLoop speed slides with SkyBox launch systems.

A Greek themed RideHouse play structure includes more than 200 22 SEPTEMBER 2012
