Technical Park wheels out new attractions
A new Ferris Wheel opened last month in the city of Kaliningrad, the capital of the Russian Baltic Sea enclave of Kalinigrad Oblast. The 45-metre construction was supplied by Technical Park complete with the Italian manufacturer’s new enclosed cabins. With floor to ceiling windows, passengers get a great view of the local surroundings.

The wheel is also wheelchair-friendly thanks to the
cabin’s large doors and ramps towards the rear of the ride. Further options for the cabins include foldable seats, table, minibar, power socket and air conditioning. The Kalinigrad installation comes just one month
after Technical Park completed a 55-metre Ferris Wheel in Kharkiv, Ukraine’s second city. This particular wheel was supplied with classic octagonal gondolas with polycarbonate screens that can be detached according to the weather.
Hurtling Hippos
England’s West Midland Safari Park has given a new lease of life to its Polyp ride be retheming it as the Hurtling Hippos. With 20 new hippo cars, the ride seats up to 40 riders and completes a dancing motion suitable for most family members.
The new design came from the park’s own engineering team and was realised
in co-operation with local manufacturers, just in time last month’s Summer Nights extended openings.
Based in the county of Worcestershire, West Midland Safari Park boasts one of the largest Hippo pods in Europe. Hurtling Hippos is one of 28 rides that visitors can enjoy on purchase of a £10.99/11.50 (kids/adults) wristband.
Lob-a-lobster!
When is a frog game not a frog game? When it launches lobsters instead of frogs. In Old Orchard Beach, Maine, where most restaurants offer fresh lobster on their menu right in the heart of lobster trapping area, a midway game themed to
the popular crustacean is a natural. Built by Fun 1 Games, a concessionaire at
Palace Playland in Old Orchard Beach, the Lobster Game is a beautifully-themed variation of the popular Frog Bog/Froggit. Players launch rubber lobsters onto shells, hoping to win prizes. Keeping with the game's theme, the prizes are plush lobsters from Nanco and Fiesta. Clearly, in the games business a little creativity can go a long way.
