When he arrived on campus as a freshman, DERWIN HILL looked for activities that would force him to step outside his comfort zone. He found them — as a Student Orientation Counselor; as an offi cer in the Men Achieving Leadership & Excellence (MALES) student group; as a peer mentor for the Student Engagement Mentoring Program; and as a resident assistant in Mead Hall. His advice for fi rst-year students? Get involved. “Make the best of these four years, try new things, and learn about yourself! My life has changed so much since coming to Eastern. Getting involved was one of the best decisions I’ve made, and I’m glad I made that decision early on.”
