Champions on the fi eld and in the classroom
Eastern student-athletes are champions. They have won nine national championships: fi ve in softball and four in baseball. In the past six years, 17 student-athletes have earned All-American honors, including three Academic All- Americans and three national Player-of-the-Year Awards. Nine teams have qualifi ed for national championship tournaments; in 2012, the men’s basketball team made the Division III Sweet Sixteen.
Eastern’s student-athletes are also successful in the classroom. Over
the past fi ve years, they have earned the second most spots on the Little East Conference (LEC) Academic Honor Roll and sport grade point averages that rack up E-Club Scholar-Athlete Awards. Eastern’s student-athletes were also awarded the fi rst-ever “Presidents Cup” in 2010 for having the highest cumulative GPA in the LEC.
But you don’t have to be a varsity athlete to enjoy a sport at Eastern. More than 1,600 students played on 194 intramural and club teams in 2011-12.
