After graduating from Eastern with a degree in biochemistry, JUSTIN PIRO earned a Ph.D. from Dartmouth College. Now as a postdoctoral scientist, his research on Alzheimer’s disease involves efforts to develop therapeutics to target the disease. “Eastern set the groundwork to allow me to succeed as a scientist, starting in the classroom with the theoretical base and then moving into the lab work. As a student, I was doing what a scientist does — working with the newest equipment, performing experiments and presenting data at weekly lab meetings and international conferences.”
