LIGHTING & LIGHTING CONTROLS

Megaman Add 6W Dimming GU10 to the Range E

Business School Adopts Lighting Management

versatile lighting management system from Delmatic controls lighting within the new lecture complex at the Saïd Business School at the University of Oxford. The new complex provides the additional facilities the School requires for an expansion of its teaching and executive education activities and is centred on a series of Harvard-style lecture theatres facing onto a cloister which connects directly to the courtyard garden. A first floor club room at the heart of the building connects to the roof terrace with framed views through the pergola to the garden below. A Delmatic lighting management system controls lighting throughout the complex including public areas, teaching and study areas and the lecture theatres. Scene-set control panels with integrated infra-red receivers providing remote control functionality enable lecturers to select preferred pre-set lighting scenes while RS232 interfaces with the AV system provide joined-up control of lighting and audio-visual functions.

nergy saving expert Megaman UK has announced the addition of a new 6W Dimming GU10 to its popular, and quickly increasing, reflector LED lamp range. Megaman’s LED reflector lamps are quite unique in design when compared to the more familiar lens-style LED lamps that are widely available, mainly due to the utilisation of parabolic reflectors and the use the company’s patented Thermal Conductive Highway™ (TCH) technology. The technology also gives the lamps a longer life with high lumen maintenance, resulting in up to 70% of initial lumens still available even at the end of lamp life, which provides a lamp that is the most efficient LED lighting solution currently available. The 6W Dimming GU10 lamp provides a 35° beam angle and offers 50,000 hours life, making it ideal for use in a wide range of applications, such as showrooms, reception areas, meeting rooms, offices, hotels, restaurants and lounges.

The perfect LED replacement for the 60W incandescent lamp

S

colmore believes its SMD LED 11W A60 lamp is one of the most efficient replacement for the 60W incandescent currently available on the market. Offering 800 lumens on a 11W lamp, this is the equivalent of 72 lumens per circuit watt, compared to the industry standard requirement of 45 lumens and the nearest competitor product performance at 60 lumens. It forms part of the company’s newly expanded Energetic LED lighting offer, which incorporates the very latest SMD (surface mounted diode) technology. SMD’s are the new generation of LED lighting enabling manufacturers to produce lamps that offer a better quality light output, are more affordable and

continue to offer the significant energy savings associated with LED technology. There are two new ranges - SMD Economy and SMD Performance - each designed to bring to the market competitively priced, superior quality LED lamps that are suitable replacements for any incandescent lamp.

Darwen Vale High School in Blackburn, Lancashire. The school, which is being completely rebuilt to a contemporary layout behind its original 1930s façade, features a number of curved internal walls which posed a challenge for the M&E installation. However, when contractors Balfour Beatty Engineering Services (BBESL) approached cable management specialists REHAU, they were able to provide a simple, bespoke curved solution. In total, REHAU has supplied more than 2,000m of trunking for the school in its 180x65mm PROFILA data and 140x50mm COMPACT data systems for Cat 6 data, power and AV cabling. In all of the classroom areas with curved and S shaped walls, the trunking has been supplied in easy to install sections pre-formed into the required shapes.
