Summer in the City

PARTY TIME!

The industry’s finest gathered to celebrate in style at BBT’s Summer in the City party, hosted in association with Qatar Airways, and sponsored by Chambers Travel Management

THE BUYING BUSINESS TRAVEL annual Summer in the City party is always a popular date on the calendar, and this year it was held in the splendid Grade II-listed BMA House in London’s Tavistock Square. Senior travel buyers and key industry figures joined BBT, and Qatar Airways and Chambers Travel Management, for a fun-filled evening of delicious food and drink, live music, games and prizes. By a stroke of luck, the summer’s endless rain held off, which meant guests could enjoy the Lutyens-

designed building’s magnificent courtyard – most popular spots outside were the spectacular hog roast and massive paella, the bar (of course), and Qatar Airways’ giant pin-to-win route map, where guests played to win a pair of business-class flights. Meanwhile, inside, there was

plenty of high-speed action (and crashes) on Chambers Travel’s Grand Prix circuit, as wannabe Lewis Hamiltons battled to win an iPad3. And there was more competition on the Batak pro-wall, with a case of champagne at stake for the winner. Further culinary delights included the noodle bar and Moroccan tagine stall, and mouthwatering sweet treats in the ‘dessert forest’. Wandering performers and magicians added an air of enchantment, and the venerable building rocked into the night with the sounds of funky guitars and soulful vocals from the band, Don’t Tell. ■
