GDS/GLOBAL SHOES enter the Next Round


Exciting New Labels and Topics such as Sustainability are Centre Stage at the coming GDS in Dusseldorf from 5 to 7 September 2012.


T


he Spring edition of the two trade fairs GDS and GLOBAL SHOES has hardly drawn to a close and the next “round” is already starting. Under the heading “Inspiration to


Go” the international shoe sector will “reconvene” in Düsseldorf from 5 to 7 September 2012. Centre stage this time will be the shoe fashion for Spring/Summer 2013 embedded in the eleven themed worlds of GDS. Add to this an extensive line-up of side events including catwalk shows, lectures and seminars. Altogether over 800 exhibitors from over 30 countries are expected to attend GDS again. “Our concept is entirely tailored to our visitors’ needs. With its different lifestyle worlds it ensures easy orientation. At the same time we are creating a setting that leaves lots of room for inspiration,” says Kirstin Deutelmoser, Director of GDS.


Exciting New Labels at GDS Yet again trade visitors can expect numerous


new labels – both in the Premium area and the up-and-coming street and sportswear segment but also the kids’ shoe segment. For instance, the Premium area will see the two French designers Francois Najar with his court shoe collection and Yves Desfarge with his women’s shoe line debut under the heading “chic, eco and fair”.


Successfully re-launched in March, the concept


area “white cubes” also scores with thrilling new high-fashion labels such as Walk-over or Moods of Norway. This Norwegian label was established by Stefan Dahlquist, Peder Børresen and Simen Staalnacke as a fashion brand in 2003 with a view to raising worldwide awareness for styling and trends “Made in Norway”.


At GDS Moods of Norway will present its latest men’s shoe and bag collections. Also featuring is the American label Kork-Ease. Their cork wedge- heeled sandals are characterised by soft, exquisite leather and a lightweight cork.


As time went by Kork-Ease extended its product


portfolio to include clogs and boots while always retaining its high-quality materials and natural, organic design. US label Coach & Rachel Zoe will use the forthcoming GDS to showcase the latest designs of this famous stylist who has now taken to footwear and fashion design.


Rachel Zoe rose to fame through her work for and with such Hollywood divas as Kate Beckinsale, Demi Moore and Cameron Diaz. Brands returning to the 200 progressive fashion labels at white cubes also include Diesel and Calvin Klein.


Again on show in the Premium area is the “British Edition” already held for the fourth time now in cooperation with B.F.A. (British Footwear Association). Design “Made in the UK” is represented here by such labels as Base London, Cocorose, Fury Sweden, Jean-Michel Cazabat, Julian Hakes, Luxury Rebel, Red by Wolves and, for the first time now, John White and Miista.


The themed Urban worlds are again all about


street and sportswear. They will see the premiere of the label Calvin Klein Jeans as well as of the Israeli designer label Coupleof, whose shoes are typified by an unconventional language of form, intrinsic craftsmanship and an interplay of proportions and asymmetries. The Bestseller Group also presents the brand Jack & Jones for the first time in addition to Selected.


Trend Theme Sustainability More and more brands focus on ecologically


manufactured fashion thereby responding to the growing demands from shoppers. According to a study by the German Federal Environment Agency, two out of three shoppers polled now already purchase products made with the least environmental impact. Correspondingly high is the number of exhibitors at GDS who have
