International Golf championship of The Shoe, Leather and Allied Trades


June 20th, 21st, 22nd 2012, at North Berwick, East Lothian


The 67th Championship took place at the North Berwick Golf Club and the Glen Golf Club in Scotland, both with spectacular views over the Firth of Forth and the Bass rock. Nearly one hundred competitors braved the strong winds and rain over


the three days of the Championship. The Trade Banquet on the Thursday night at the Marine Hotel raised a


record amount of over £7000 on the night for the Trade Charities. Richard Kottler of Footwear Friends and William Tusting from the LHTBI received cheques from President Gordon A Wilson. In the International Match for the Bridge of Weir Trophy, Scotland &


Ireland captained by John McHugh turned the tables on England & Wales captained by Paul Pritty, by winning convincingly 4 and 2. The Championship News Bowl was won by Gus Laurenson, a Retailer


from Dundee with 72 points over 36 holes; the Ladies Champion was Susie O’Brien from Galway with 72 points. Runner up, winning the United Chrometanners Cup was Stephen O’Brien


from Galway, and in third place winning the Chairman’s Mashie was John McHugh from Cork. The Wilbur Muirhead Scratch Cup was won by Graham Hamilton from Brampton in Cumbria, depriving brother Craig of a 10th successive win. The Hugh Denton Trophy for the Under 35’s was won by Andrew


Wilkinson from Leicestershire, and the Turner Bowl for the Over 60’s was won by Pat Hanley from Dublin. The Mawer Marlow Trophy for the Over 70’s was retained by Charles Chamberlain from Rochdale Lancashire. The O’Brien Family from Galway in Ireland had a great Championship,


taking home four trophies! Mum Susie winning the Ladies Championship, Son Stephen as runner up in the Men’s Championship winning the United Chrometanners Cup and the Regional Shamrock Trophy, and finally Dad Bernard winning the Presidents Salver. In 2013 the Championship returns to Southport in Lancashire, the Golf

New Gabor Concession to open in Arnotts Dublin


Charles Clinkard is set to add a new Gabor concession to Dublin’s largest


department store, Arnotts. The Gabor collection will be available in Arnotts from 5th June, offering the quality and style associated with the Gabor name. Arnotts was established in 1843 on Henry Street, and it is at this flagship store where the new Gabor concession will be found. The first Charles Clinkard shoe shop dates back to 1924, with a small


store in Middlesbrough, CountyDurham. The independent chain has since grown to 34 stores across the UK, but it is still family owned and managed – Charles Clinkard, grandson of the founder, is the MD. Operations Director, Toby Hewison said: “This is our first foray into


Ireland and we’re absolutely thrilled to be working with a brand with the heritage and past of Arnotts. This is also the first time we’re trying a concession format so it’s doubly exciting for us as a brand.” Charles Clinkard are the official stockists of Gabor shoes, providing an
