CHERRY BLOSSOM
Cherry Blossom Goes Green with New Range
These days, many companies selling footwear products claim to have green credentials. However, there are few that have been around for as long as Cherry Blossom. Established in 1906, Cherry Blossom has always striven to be as eco friendly as possible.
A
lthough the technology used in making the Cherry Blossom footwear care range has moved on considerably since its humble beginnings in 1906, the parent Company Granger’s International has never lost sight of its responsibilities to the environment. In 2009 the company
switched to using 100% recycled card and non-beached paper in all their packaging, saving 79.4 litres of water, 16.3kWh of electricity and 7.5kg of virgin wood per ream.
The Company also implement many energy saving initiatives at its Head
Office and Manufacturing Plant in Derby. And recycling is one of these that is very much put into practice at Cherry Blossom. The British company use 100% recycled card for all outer boxes and all their waste card is recycled.
All cartons, card board boxes, bottles, lids, caps, tubes and spray heads
that come into the site are suitable for recycling are recycled. This means that Cherry Blossom now save 100% of waste that would normally go into landfill – the equivalent of four skips per week.
Water saving devices implemented by the company conserve 30,000 litres of water p.a. 22 • FOOTWEAR TODAY • AUGUST 2012
