FROM THE EDITOR Changes

“Things change. And friends leave. Life doesn't stop for anybody - Stephen Chbosky

, The Perks of Being a Wallflower W

e’ve had some staff changes this month at Footwear Today Magazine. After three successful years on the publication, John Andrews has left to join footwear manufacturer GRS as

sales manager. John leaves with our best wishes for his new career. Advertising Manager, Sue Wiseman, will be stepping into John’s size 10’s as Journal Manager. While, Becci Knowles will be joining the editorial team as regular contributor. Instead of bronzing myself on a foreign beach, I’ll be spending

August at the shoe shows in London and Birmingham, namely Pure and Moda, to bring you the latest trends. I’m also looking forward to meeting up with members of the Footwear Today Best Sellers Panel and many old friends from the footwear industry. As well as previews of MODA and PURE, in this issue we also talk to Angie Callaway, Global Retail Director, Crocs Inc. After expanding rapidly and reaching an all time high in 2007,

Crocs faced huge financial problems in 2008 and 2009. However, the company is firmly now back on track in time for its 10th Anniversary. Crocs is no longer all about rubbery shoes with holes, it has diversified its offering to 300 different styles, based on its comfortable Croslite material, with wide with a range of variations from sandals to walking shoes, boots and even high heels, including leather and fabric Whilst, gleaning insight into what’s likely to be flying off your

shelves next summer, you might care to check out our Editor’s Choice pages 16-19. We have selected a bevy of beautiful sandals and sling backs from Europe’s top manufacturers and those from further afield, for your lady customers in SS13. Also, in this edition, our exciting new Fashion Trends section,

produced in association with Fashion students from The University of Northampton, brings you a taste of Spring/Summer 2013. The BA (Hons) in Fashion at The University of Northampton attracts a vibrant mix of creative students who can opt to specialise in one of three pathway choices: Fashion Design, Printed Textiles for Fashion or Fashion Footwear & Accessories. These two exciting trend directions are for SS13, and have been

created by students Sarika Patel, Jinesh Khodiyar, Olivia Williams and Helen Kirkum. These talented students have completed their first year of study and are now progressing to study footwear and accessories design. The students would like to acknowledge the contribution to this

project of their fellow students, Sianne Smart, Natalie Alexandrou and Lucy James. On behalf of Footwear Today Magazine, I would like to thank all the students who took part in this project, also Lecturer in Fashion, Joyce Thornton and Vicki Dean, Head of Fashion & Textiles, Northampton University. Well done everyone! Do come along and meet the Footwear Today team at Moda, NEC Birmingham, from August 12-14 2012. Look out for Stand No. U26

Kind regards, Cheryl
