THIS YEAR’S WINNER: DAVID PERRY


The Development Legend prize is awarded by the Develop team to an individual who has made a sizeable impact on games development in their lifetime. This year we will present the


award to David Perry. David is currently the CEO


and co-founder of Gaikai.com, a company that’s developed a cutting-edge video game streaming technology allowing the highest quality


games to run in a browser with just one mouse click. Previously, he was chief


creative officer of Acclaim.com, directing free-to-play games. David has worked in games


for almost three decades and developed over 100 games including the hits Earthworm Jim and The Matrix series. He formed Shiny


Entertainment, later sold to Atari, worked on major console

games, before directing his attentions to the online space. He began developing games as


a teenager, and is one of the longest serving members of the Game Developer’s Conference Advisory Board. He is also a popular speaker at events and universities across the globe including TED and MIT. David joins an elite list of


esteemed recipients of the accolade which includes Peter


Molyneux (Lionhead), David Braben (Frontier Developments), Charles Cecil (creator of Broken Sword), the Gower brothers (creators of Runescape), Phil Harrison (former SCE studios president), and last year’s legend Ian Livingstone (Eidos life president). Develop looks forward to


presenting this honour to David on July 11th.
