Andy Hayes Associate Director, Keysource

QFavourite film?

A Stand by Me – a great coming of age, road trip story. More recently, I really enjoyed The Departed and Inception.

QFavourite music?

A I like listening to most music. The best bands that I have seen live include Foo Fighters, Red Hot Chilli Peppers and The Arctic Monkeys.

QDream holiday?

A I’m fortunate enough to have had some amazing holidays in different places around the world. Last year I had my honeymoon in Dubai and then the Maldives, which was amazing. I would like to see more of Asia including Cambodia, Vietnam and Sri Lanka.

QWhat are your hobbies?

A Motor racing and sailing. I compete at race circuits across the UK as part of a series organised by the Classic Sports Car Club. My favourite circuits are Oulton Park and Silverstone.

QFavourite sport and sports personality?

A I enjoy watching rugby and motor racing. I follow the McLaren team in Formula One, which represents the highest levels of technological advancement by top British engineers and sports stars – Lewis Hamilton and Jenson Button – at the height of their game.

QFavourite comedian?

A I like Sean Lock who has quite a dark and surreal style of humour, and it was very funny watching him host the UK IT Industry Awards a couple of years ago. I also like old Norman Wisdom films too.

QConsumerisation of IT - good or bad?

A In the long run I think it’s a good thing, but in the short-term I am sure it has been a headache for large organisations with regards to control of IT. Consumerisation has led to a much faster development of IT products and software applications due to a wider uptake of personal ownership of IT products and solutions (Laptops, Tablets, iPad, Smartphones).

QCloud - good or bad?

A Cloud is a good thing. A well-designed cloud computing system has multiple benefits to business including cost, flexibility, reliability and performance. The perceived risks around security still seems to be slowing the uptake of wider adoption by many businesses.

QYour job - the good?

A Fun and challenging! It is great to work with such a diverse range of customers all with differing business challenges and goals. I love the fact we work really hard to understand specific drivers and the different ways in which they use IT to enhance their business. This enables us to design, build and manage varying data centre facilities to

QOther than your own, one ICT company to watch?

A There certainly feels like potential growth in the data centre co-location sector

so I think the larger players will continue to show success and growth. We will see more small to mid sized players entering the market too.

A ‘Wherever you see a successful business, someone once made a

courageous decision”
