Much more than just a refit

When St Albans based tools and fastenings supplier Herts Tool Co contacted Salepoint they were basically looking to modernise their trade counter sales area. They got more than they bargained for. The initial Salepoint proposals addressed a problem with the existing layout. Customers entering the shop took just two or three steps then turned their back on the large sales area as they presented at the counter. Even the free vend drinks machine was just a few steps further on, still circling around the edge of the main sales area. The new layout proposals were somewhat radical, with a new counter location on the opposite side of the shop to

the entrance and an angled layout of new gondolas. Customers now had to traverse most of the shop to get to the counter and there is now a lot of stock en-route to tempt them. Even the tea machine is now in the furthest corner form the entrance. The stock on show on the way to the counter is that which is more susceptible to better positioning such as

clothing, popular hand tools, cleaning supplies, even WD40. The Salepoint refit made good use of the company’s colour scheme and

logo, with shopfittings in light grey and company blue components, plus company logos to the fascia panels. Upmarket pewter effect slatwall backings with aluminium inserts was incorporated for the power tools. The overall result is very pleasing and customers are now buying more per visit. “Now there is not just more on show but it is much more accessible and also better displayed”, said Director Phil Grimble.
