Fortress Develops Modern amGard Pro Range of Heavy Duty Interlocks
Seaward tester tastes success at UK coffee machine producer
espresso coffee machines is using the advanced multi-function ClareHAL 104 from Seaward to improve product testing at its West Midlands engineering and manufacturing site.
manufacturer of stylish and innovative commercial coffee machines for coffee shops, boutique hotels, gastro bars and restaurants. It supplies products to markets around the world and was the first company of its type to achieve the ISO 9001 quality standard. At its Birmingham facility,
newly produced coffee
machines are designed and tested for reliability to ensure they operate correctly and to the highest standards of performance and safety. All products have to be electrically safety tested to ensure they are safe for use by customers once they leave the factory gate. This involves the accurate recording of test results and storing them for quality control and traceability purposes. So, in a move to improve this process and provide greater flexibility Fracino is now using a ClareHAL 104 on one of its two main production lines. This forms an integral part of the quality control processes at the factory, which produces over 3000 machines a year, and enables the company to undertake fast and accurate electrical safety and run testing without damaging product.

ndustrial safety specialist Fortress Interlocks has significantly developed its amGard range of heavy duty, safety gate switch interlocks to create amGard Pro. amGard Pro builds on the recognised modularity and robust design of the existing amGard range but with added features and benefits identified by market feedback. Some added features include forward and backward compatibility, stainless steel heads, emergency release options, anti-vibration parts and non-contact technology. The Pro range integrates modern technology to deliver new control functionality but still offers the option for traditional lockout retro-fitting, creating a variety of new configurations not previously available. amGard Pro has been tested to withstand up to 10KN retention force, making it Fortress’ strongest yet.

roseal has further extended its range of vacuum tray sealers with the launch of a model specifically designed for skin packs. The Proseal GT1VS features a servo-driven infeed conveyor and high accuracy tray positioning system and accepts randomly spaced trays in all types of materials at sealing speeds of up to 24 packs per minute depending on the product. Skin packs feature a special film that seals

to all surfaces of a tray – rim, sidewalls and base – to tightly cover the entire contents. The packs have been used predominantly for fish products in the past but are being increasing seen for other types of foods such as ready to cook meals, game, meat and sausage products, and mini joints. Wrapping the seal around the contents means products can be vacuumed packed for extended shelf life without the need for gas flushing. At the same time, because there is no gas headspace required, tray heights can be reduced, thus saving on packaging materials.
The sealing system also means product can extend
over the height of the tray. Environmental benefits include lower weight and reduced handling and storage costs for the packs, and the minimising of food waste.

ieland Electric is launching a new range of safety relays that are only 22.5mm wide and have been designed for universal use.
The new SNO 4083KM relays are suitable for most mechanical engineering applications, particularly special machine engineering or for smaller serial machines. SNO 4083KM relays are suitable for almost all safety functions, from conventional emergency stop and safety door monitoring and monitoring of electro-sensitive protective equipment (ESPE) – type 4 (safety light curtain) – to the monitoring of pressure mats or coded magnet switches with open/close contact pairs. Additional functions such as a selective automatic or manual monitored restart of the safety function, synchronous time monitoring of 0.5 or 1.5 seconds for all two-channel applications, or the integrated Monoflop function for higher device availability make this new range a breakthrough in safety relays.
