Elo TouchSystems/TE Connectivity will demonstrate its largest Interactive Digital Signage (IDS) touchscreen display. The IDS range is designed for demanding applications such as shopping malls, retail outlets, hotels and public venues. The new Elo TouchSystems 5500L 55in touch display, available with either optical multi-touch or IntelliTouch SAW

touchscreens, is thinner than existing IDS displays and compatible with optional computer modules. Mode-AL will feature its new V-Brick and Pop-Out videowalls. V-Brick is a

mounting system for large- format screens designed to go behind glass. The Pop-Out videowall allows access to the rear of the screens without removing them from their framework. MOOH Group will be showcasing the DOOH Loo, a 100% waterless urinal equipped with a 7in LCD screen, a wireless media device and HTML5 technology from IAdea. The DOOH Loo is manufactured from injection- moulded polycarbonate, and is vandal-resistant, highly durable and designed to outlive most washrooms. Premier Mounts will be

exhibiting the AM500, a new universal wall mount designed to accommodate large displays from 65in to 103in and up to 500lb (225kg) in weight. This low-profile mount features full- forward extension of over 400mm from the wall to access a flat-panel display for service and alignment. In addition, the company will exhibit a modular Christie MicroTiles mounting system that’s intended to provide the quickest installation of multiple MicroTiles configurations. PSCo Technical

Distribution is set to show eyevis omniSHAPES for the

first time in the UK at this year’s event. This modular videowall system enhances creativity with various shaped tiles designed to fit together in a range of designs. omniSHAPES also incorporates an LED rear- projection videowall system inbuilt into the tile. PSCo will also be showcasing the first NEC X463UN screens in the UK in a 3x3 portrait videowall solution, controlled using Matrox’s Mura videowall cards. Finally, what does Pigou think will be the next step in interactive technology? “There are many directions the technology might go but one of the most important trends overall is towards ever greater context-sensitivity,” he says. “Imagine a screen media system that’s aware of the age and gender of the person it’s interacting with, that’s aware of the weather and the time of day, and how close it is to the weekend and how crowded the location is right now, and how commercial property rents are trending on that street, as an indicator of how well it’s flourishing. You could think of a hundred other examples of information relevant not only to the particular consumer but also to the physical and emotional environment, which will help the system deliver the right kind of message at the right moment. A number of companies are now working on systems that connect a business’s DOOH installations to all kinds of other data that the business holds, for precisely this reason.” This suggests that there’s still plenty of potential for the European DOOH market to continue growing for some time. Whether you’re new to it or just want to keep up to date with the latest developments, Screenmedia expo is well worth a visit. IE
