Ni Monitors Offering the customer peace of mind
A reliable baby monitor enables parents to go about their daily chores or catch forty winks safe in the knowledge that baby is safely and peacefully asleep.
Research from leading market research company Mintel revealed that in 2010 the highest growth area for the nursery market was in safety equipment and monitors (accounting for 9% of the market) where sales have increased by 26%, up from £57 million in 2008 to £72 million in 2010. Monitors have been performing particularly strongly, helped by innovative, feature-rich products with higher than average prices, it said. Monitors offer parents the peace of mind they need, allowing them to listen to their baby while sleeping, without having to be in the same room.
The first type of monitor available was the analogue, which continues
to offer good quality sound. All UK analogue monitors operate within the same allotted frequency band to transmit information from the baby unit to the parent unit. Digital monitors offer clearer sound and more privacy. There are two types of Digital monitor: those that operate at 2.4GHz and those that use DECT technology.
DECT technology (Digital Enhanced Cordless Telecommunication) is a superior standard also used for the majority of portable telephone handsets. Monitors with DECT offer superior quality and are guaranteed to be interference free with crystal clear sound and 100% privacy. Other types of monitor available include Audio Video Monitors which enable parents to hear and see their baby on screen as well as listen to any sounds they make. slightest movements for extra reassurance and generally an alarm will sound if no movement has been detected for 20 seconds. There are a range of additional features within each type of
monitor that should also be discussed at length. In advice to the consumer The New Parents Guide says: “The type of baby monitor you choose depends on the location of your baby's room in relation to where you will be, the type of building you live in and how much you want to spend (how many extra features you want). If your room is far from your baby's room and you have cement walls, you will want a monitor with a strong transmitter.
comfortable seeing and hearing your baby, than an audio/video monitor is the one for you.”
In additional safety information, the Guide insists that parents keep
all cords, adapters and transmitters out of reach of baby; that batteries are kept fresh and/or recharged; that parents never solely rely on a monitor for baby’s safety or leave baby unattended for extended periods of time.
