GAMES INDUSTRY PIONEERS of all shapes and sizes where recognised at the Develop Industry Excellence Awards 2012 last month. A gala ceremony in the UK seaside city of
Brighton was attended by over 550 people from 150 companies, where they saw the likes of Battlefield 3, Dear Esther and World of Tanks handed highly-coveted awards. The Develop Industry Excellence Awards

acknowledge creative, commercial and technical achievement. Taking place at the Hilton Metropole Hotel, the event was the most attended night in the ceremony’s decade-long history. Moshi Monsters creator Mind Candy took home one of the top prizes, the Grand Prix, which recognised a blistering period of growth as the children’s online game firm burst into the mainstream. A total of seven key prizes went to new,
nimble British companies: Mode 7 Games took home the New IP prize for Frozen Synapse, Facebook games pioneer Bossa was handed the New Studio accolade, and Thechineseroom took Micro Studio and Use of Narrative for Dear Esther.
