without striping. It is best to consult prototype photos to see which trailers are actually appropriate for the rail- road modeled. As I learned through research, the
UPSZ red nose and red stripe trailers were what normally was seen on the Erie Lackawanna’s NY100. None of the other trailers were correct for this train. Trainworx offers six road num- bers for each type of trailer. The first thing I noticed about these trailers is how much high-end detail there actually is on them. Vertical riv- ets, roll-up doors, running lights, air connections, wheels, mud flaps… etc. All this and we are not even talking paint and lettering. All of the required equipment is present and located in the correct spot. These details are molded very cleanly and everything is represented very well. The overall di- mensions of the trailer are correct based on some measurements I had taken from a trailer I came across at one point. One detail that really stands out for
me are the wheels. The wheel center is a dark grey color and the rim is accent- ed by silver. This silver ring is so accu-
rately placed and so well done that it really makes the wheel assembly look incredible. The tire color also just looks perfect. Not really black but not really grey and not really glossy but not real- ly flat. I have no idea what that color is but it works so well on the wheels. The paintwork on this trailer is also another aspect of this model which is excellent. The overall trailer color is just right and because it is thin, it makes all of the trailer detail look right. Nothing messes a model up more than poorly applied paint. That is not a problem here. On the UPSZ trailers, all of the lettering was cleanly applied and legible. Even the smallest letter- ing was printed perfectly. I found my- self amazed time and time again by the amount of detail that can be added to a model just through the printing process. What would be nearly impos- sible for most modelers to do is done here effortlessly. I placed two of these trailers on a Mi- cro-Trains 89-foot TOFC car to test out the fit. The only problem I had was that the trailers kingpin was a tad too big for the hole in the trailer receiver on the flat car. I fixed this by enlarging the opening
