E-flite’s

Sea

Its size may not be impressive but its looks and performance are center stage!

he Hawker Sea Fury is arguably one of the most beautiful propeller- driven fighters of all time. Less ar- guable is that it was one of the

fastest and most technologically advanced piston powered aircraft prior to the domina- tion of the jet engine. It cannot be argued that the Sea Fury has been a very popular modeling subject in all variety of sizes for many years. This was not the first Sea Fury of which

your humble scribe has had the pleasure of manning the sticks. Way back in the Octo- ber 2008 issue of FM, I reviewed a 71-inch Sea Fury (which I still fly today) and found it extremely easy to fly despite being rather heavy. When I saw E-flite’s rendition of the Sea Fury (also WJ232) I just had to get my mitts on one. Now if you’re thinking to yourself “Chris,

this ARF was introduced years ago…it’s old news!” well, you’d be half right. The E-flite Sea Fury was first offered way back in 2008 and was a hit. Eventually, like most models, it was discontinued after a good run and I missed out. However, requests for a re-re- lease must have been high because it’s back!

The new ARF is identical to the original with the only difference being that the en- tire airframe is now molded in Horizon’s durable Z-Foam. This material is easy to work with since regular CyA can be used on it.

The initial quality assessment of E-flite’s

Sea Fury is extraordinary. An extreme amount of detail was captured in this small 480 sized, 36.8-inch warbird. All of the pan- el lines are in place, as well as a convincing cockpit, airbrushed exhaust staining and more. All of the decals are matte, to match the paint, and are pre-applied. Six air-to- ground missiles are also included, should you decide to load up the hard points. A two- piece spinner, prop and prop adapter are also included to get you in the air fast. I couldn’t wait to get mine there, so I got right to work! Assembly of the Sea Fury begins with a decision, that being whether to go with ei- ther fixed or mechanically retractable gear. Complete parts are included for both op- tions, with two extra sub-micro servos being the only extra required gear for the retracts. I was given the extra two servos (E-flite
