MCV asks director Ian Goodall how Aardvark Swift is finding new talent for the industry
What is Aardvark Swift? We’re a specialist recruitment agency. A large percentage of our business is in and around video games but we provide talent of all types to games, mobile, digital, FMCG entertainment and toy companies – oh, and now licensing companies as well.
What has been your biggest achievement so far this year? We recently became a preferred supplier to Microsoft and so far we’re out performing our competitors so we’re pretty chuffed with ourselves. We’ve also just concluded the third year of our graduate games programming competition, ‘Search For a Star’. We’ve unearthed some more awesome young talent for the games development industry.
Do you have anything big planned for the near future? We’ve just gone into partnership with Ian Downes, a licensing professional. He’s our new licensing recruiter. We’re looking at partnerships with other types of recruitment businesses to provide a more complete solution to clients. Our international business has expanded enormously in recent years – that’s also a big part of our future strategy. We’re also on the button with social media and pushing the boundaries of social recruitment – we see this as a key business tool for us in the years ahead.
Where do you see the company in five years? Hopefully with twice as many people and at least twice the

turnover and profits. We are definitely aiming to grow and offer a high level of service to more complimentary industries whilst retaining our solid base in video games.
I’m also determined to see some of my longest-serving employees coming through the ranks and becoming managers of the new generation of Aardvark recruiters, with some joining the board and driving us forward for another 20-odd years.
Tell us something no one knows about Aardvark Swift. We’re launching our new website in the next few weeks to coincide with our 23rd birthday party, and you’re all invited.
