IT IS four weeks at the top for LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroesfrom WARNER BROS, despite a 19 per
cent week-on-week fall in sales.
The super hero action game now ties with FIFA 12for the most number of consecutive weeks at the summit of the All Formats Charts for this year. And with the hotly anticipated The Dark Knight Risesout this week, expect all things Batman to remain a major seller for the rest of the month.
There was very little out in terms of new releases, the most notable being NAMCO BANDAI’s gravity-defying action game Inversion, which missed out on the Top 40. The shooter debuted at No.50. Also new outside of the Top 40 is a new The Sims 3add-on - Diesel Stuff– which reached No.55.
Back at the top, and there’s no change for the Top Three with SEGA’s London 2012: The Official Video Gameat No.2 (a sales dip of 19 per cent week- on-week), and The Amazing Spider-Manfrom Activision at No.3 (with a 23 per cent fall).
DEEP SILVER’s Dead Island Game of The Yearedition rises a place to No.4, despite a sales slide of 14 per cent.
As you can tell from the sales drops, the market suffered last week with the number of games down six per cent to 410,429.
But it wasn’t all sales declines, with UBISOFT’s Ghost Recon: Future Soliderrising 41 per cent in sales, climbing from No.9 to No.5 thanks to some retail promotions. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3also saw a sales increase of 41 per cent, moving up two places to No.6.
And as Olympic fever starts to build, Mario & Sonic London 2012is back in the Top Ten with a 16 per cent sales rise.
