For those Japanese luxury travellers seeking wellness experiences, the destinations must be Sri Lanka, India, Thailand, Indonesia, and Japanese Ryokans. In Sri Lanka, sought after Ayurveda treatments can be found in many dedicated spa resorts. In India, we recommend Jiva Spa of Taj. Their traditional therapies – including meditation and yoga – are inspired by the ancient wellness heritage of India and rituals of Indian royalty. Of course, the traditional therapies of Thailand and Indonesia are always popular for the Japanese but those travelling further afi eld have found excellent therapies at Manor Houses in the U.K. Finally, Japanese Ryokans; they are excellent in ‘omotenasi’ (Japanese hospitality). There are no equivalents for them in the world and we recommend trying one out.
