Install a drip irrigation system, which can be up to 95% efficient (compared with sprinkler and spray irrigation systems, which are about 60%–70% efficient). Although drip systems are more expensive to design than traditional irrigation systems, these drip systems are typically less expensive to install and have fewer maintenance requirements. Hospital owners should check with their local municipality for rebates or other incentives for water- efficient irrigation systems, such as dedicated water meters and rain or moisture sensors.

Such materials are better for the environment and can hold up to large weights.
