S4 Irish handling specialist does the double at Awards


Double winners Combilift led an impressive field of champions, as the Fork Lift Truck Association presented its 18th annual Awards for Excellence. The company won the Innovation Category for the second time for its new Rough Terrain RT forklift, and its Combi-CB model scooped the first and only ‘Victor Ludorum’ prize, billed by the FLTA as the ultimate winner of winners in the awards’ 18 year history. The Victor Ludorum award, a gold-plated ‘Archie’ statuette was created to mark the FLTA’s 40th year. The Olympic-themed ceremony was co-presented by athletics legend Sally Gunnell OBE. Other big winners included Linde’s 394 displace- ment pump (Environment), Ravas M-Forks (Safety) and JCB’s Changezee teletruk carriage (Ergonomics);


each receiving a bronze statuette following an open vote through the FLTA website. Individual Awards were presented to Daniel McKinnon of Global Materials Handling (Apprentice of the Year), Clive Mansfield of EnerSys (Employee of the Year), and Jim Cameron of FB Chain (Services to Industry) – designer of FB chain wear gauge.

Logistics exhibition returns to NEC


Floor space at Multimodal 2012, aimed at all sectors of the UK and Irish logistics industry and its customers, is selling out. The event, now in its fifth consecutive year is to be held at Birmingham’s NEC from May 1-3.


The show will host a wide spectrum of companies, including third party logistics providers (3PLs), ports, deep-sea and short- sea shipping lines, freight forwarders, inter- national hauliers, rail service providers, terminal operators and equipment and


technology suppliers. A host of industry leading companies have con- firmed their, while there are also a host of first-time exhibitors. Multimodal is the venue at which buyers review innovative logistics solutions. A raft of forwarding and freight and logistics management companies are also joining the line-up. “Today’s astute logistics operators are aware that in the current tough business climate they need to maximise their market profile, and Multimodal 2012 is the ideal forum in which to achieve that,” said event director Robert Jervis.

Used forklift truck fairs across UK


Forklift truck manufacturer Jungheinirch (UK) will be hold- ing used equipment fairs across the country this year.


The events will take place at Jungheinrich’s depots in Warrington, Birmingham, Cumbernauld, Milton Keynes, Sheffield and Bristol between February and October.


Electric and engine-powered counterbalance forklifts, pallet trucks and reach trucks will be available at the showroom events and all models on display will be offered for next-day delivery.


Each of the trucks on show will have been rebuilt at the Jungheinrich Group’s specialist used truck refurbishment centre in Dresden, Germany. The process ensures Jungheinrich used equip- ment gives many years of efficient and productive service. The dates are Warrington – 13th September; Birmingham – 18thApril and 7th November; Cumbernauld – 25th April; Milton Keynes 16th May and 17th and 9th and 10th October; Sheffield – 27th June; Bristol – July 18th. www.jungheinrich.co.uk


50/50 truck on tour


After successful appearances at national shows in 2011, the Toyota before and after truck will again take to the road in 2012, with visits to regional shows and exhibitions across the country. The truck has been developed as a live example of the quality available from Toyota's used truck fleet and the standard of finish from the preparation process. The 50/50 truck is an ex contract hire diesel counterbal- ance forklift. Half of the truck has been inspected and prepared to Gold standard and the other half left as it was returned, illustrat- ing the changes that take place to prepare a truck for another life. www.toyotaforklifts.co.uk


New €40m factory


Materials handling products and services specialist Jungheinrich has announced that, to keep pace with anticipated growth in demand for its products in the years ahead, it is to invest €40 million in a new factory dedicated to the production of warehouse trucks and systems equipment. Work on the new plant – which will be sited close to one of the com- pany’s existing factories in the town of Moosburg, Germany – will start in April and is expected to be com- plete in the second half of 2013. “By building this new plant, we are making an important invest- ment in the future of our company, which will enable us to generate sustainable growth,” said Hans- Georg Frey, chairman of the board of management of Jungheinrich AG. www.jungheinrich.co.uk
