Exhibition preview Plant & Asset Management 2012 New thermal imaging cameras double image resolution

Testo has recently introduced new thermal imaging cam- eras to its range along with a new feature; SuperResolution. This optional feature is said to allow you to get much more out of your camera as it effectively dou- bles the geometric resolution of thermal images. No artificial intermediate values are generated. True

readings are utilised, which can be regarded as compara- ble to a higher detector resolution. The thermal images captured with the resolution of the camera detector are intensified providing greater detail and clarity with truly outstanding images. The precise infrared images from the cameras allow even the smallest faults in difficult-to- access places or dangerous zones in industrial systems to be identified precisely, reliably and from a safe distance.

‘Value-for-money’ thermal imagers on display

Flir Systems entire product range is subject to continuous develop- ment and visitors to the first ever PAM Show in April will be able to see new thermal imaging camera features and even new models.

Although the entry cost to this technology continues to fall, Flir differentiates itself in the market as the brand that provides increas- ing value for money through growing standard feature sets and application specific software. Flir will be demonstrating models that serve all the sectors involved in plant and asset main- tenance. Electrical and mechani- cal condition monitoring and predictive maintenance, building fault analysis and energy manage- ment as well as renewable energy plant inspection are established application fields for this com- prehensive product programme. Show visitors can get hands-on with these cameras ranging from the troubleshooting Flir i-Series up to the T640 Series that has fea-

tures for advanced thermal analy- sis and reporting.

“Plant and asset maintenance is our core business and this show will naturally be a main focus for us in 2012,” explains Flir Systems sales manager, Andy Baker. “Thermal imaging is well known in this sector so we’re keen to demonstrate to visitors a camera upgrade path that will make the job of thermal inspec- tion more efficient.

Standard features such as wifi communication with other instruments and mobile devices add value and save time.” Flir’s infrared guidebooks will be available to stand visitors. Flir Systems (P-B08) T: 01732 220011 www.flir.com

Cylinders, an energy efficient solution

SKF will be launching a new range of high performance electric cylin- ders at this year’s Plant & Asset Management exhibition. The CASM electric cylinders have been developed for use in a variety of techni- cally and environmentally demanding applications, ranging from com- ponent handling, welding and clamping, to packaging and general automation. In each case, the new CASM electric cylinders are capable of providing up to 5,400N of static force, at speeds of over 1m/sec, with stroke lengths of up to 800mm, and backlash of just ±0.01mm. The CASM electric cylinders have been introduced to meet the demand for energy efficient, reliable and high performance alternatives to traditional pneumatic or hydraulic devices. In some applications, CASM technology can reduce energy consumption by up to 90 per cent, when compared with pneumatic systems, and can also minimise noise, contamination and overall maintenance.

Also displayed on the SKF stand will be a range of the company’s latest power transmission prod- ucts, linear motion solutions, condi- tion monitoring instruments, maintenance and lubrication products, and sealing solutions and bearings. SKF (Stand P-D01) www.skf.co.uk
