Exhibition preview MACH 2012 New tool production machinery

Vollmer UK, the specialist in grinding and eroding machinery for tool production and maintenance will be showing new and old innovations at MACH 2012. The Loroch Ekostar 500 for the CNC re-sharpening, re-toothing and chamfering of HSS circular saw blades is one prod- uct that will be on display. This will be complemented by the CHD270 for the grinding of TCT tipped circular saw blades whilst the QXD200 disc erosion and grinding machine for pro- cessing PCD cutting tools highlights its capabilities for processing cutting tools for aerospace, F1 and automotive industries. A new concept for metal cutting circular

saw blades up to 500mm diameter, the Ekostar 500 for re-sharpening, re-toothing and chamfering of HSS and solid carbide saw blades offers vari-pitch toothing for chip breaker grooves. It achieves outstand- ing grinding quality for standard tooth shapes and can also grind non- standard tooth shapes. The optimum grinding finish achieved is the culmination of successful interaction between the saw blade feed and lift movement of the grind-

ing head, which are computer controlled. Vollmer UK (Stand 4019) T: 0115 9491040 vollmer-group.com Enter 308

Focus on fume and dust extraction

Flextraction, supplier and manufacturer of Local Exhaust Ventilation (LEV) products for dust and fume extraction, is exhibiting its latest totally self-supporting Hood Positioning Device (HPD) along with TEKA’s dust and fume extraction systems at MACH 2012. HPDs demonstrated or shown by virtual presentations will include the Flextractor HPD, Extended HPD, Mini HPD and Flextender HPD. HPDs are designed to capture and extract industrial dust and fumes at the point of source for surface grinding, welding or other manufactur- ing applications where dust and fumes are emitted. They are also ATEX compliant for use in hazardous area zones.

Other products include the TEKA ‘filtoo’, a mobile suction and fil- tering unit for the local extraction of fumes, dust and gases found in welding, bonding, gluing, brazing, soldering and laser welding. TEKA’s BGIA 200520840/1140 approved ‘Strongmaster’ mobile car- tridge filter for industrial fume extraction and TEKA’s, BGIA approved, DIN EN ISO 15012-1, central suction and filtering unit from their ‘Filtercube’ range are also on display. Bactericide-free cutting fluid, stays bacteria free Bonderite pre-treatment technol-

ogy, Loctite high performance engineering adhesives, sealants & cleaners and Teroson advanced flexible bonding and sealing solutions are Henkel brand names with high status in the

production engineering sector. The latest development in these ranges will be featured at MACH 2012 but taking centre stage is Multan, a comprehensive range of cutting fluids and stamping and drawing fluids.

Bacterial contamination is a natural biological process in the life of a cutting fluid. However, not only does this process cause bad odour but ultimately results in the emulsion splitting and becoming unusable.

At MACH 2012 Henkel will be focusing on its sustainable solu- tion to this cutting fluid problem with the patented emulsifier technology of its Multan 71-2

‘Glass tank’

manufacturing On two stands at MACH 2012, Unicut Precision will be demonstrating its 'Perfect Manufacturing Environment' by suspending highly complex machined components in a glass tank. The glass tank display will be a reflection of the extremely impressive production facili- ty at Unicut. With impeccable cleanli- ness of its components and machine shop facility that are a result of invest- ments in component cleaning systems and bespoke swarf and coolant clean- ing and re-cycling plant; the Welwyn Garden based machine shop is keen to emphasise how its high levels of qual- ity, cleanliness and productivity are reflected in the 'Perfect Environment' glass tanks at MACH. fluid, formulated for a range of machining applications. A prod- uct of intensive development work, Multan 71-2 is a microbio- logically robust cutting fluid that contains no bactericides (such as formaldehyde splitters). Nor does it need any later addition of bactericides to keep it stable. The Henkel product pro- gramme extends across the entire production chain. More than 3,000 product variants provide an exceptional choice so that the optimal result can be achieved. Henkel (Stand 5249a) T: 01442 278235 www.henkel.com Enter 310

Cutting a winning line at MACH

Kerf Developments will be using MACH as a platform to promote its new generation RUR profile cutting machine combined with Kaliburn ‘ultrasharp’ cutting technology. Designed and manu- factured for customers with a high production demand, the RUR incorporates a rigid frame design that is ultrasonically stress relieved and manufactured to highly accurate tolerances to

provide remarkable performance for the end user.

The RUR range can be config- ured with combined plasma and oxy-fuel heads to suit the various demands of the marketplace. Additionally, customers can con- figure machine lengths and widths to allow for large plate sizes or to provide the capability to cut and load/unload plates simultaneously in order to min- imise machine downtime. With recent applications requiring machine beds up to 90m x 15m, Kerf can provide a bespoke solu- tion for anything from a small machine shop or fabricator to highly productive ship yards and heavy industry applications. Blacking process for iron and steel

Blackfast Chemicals, manufactures and supplies the Room Temperature Blacking Process for iron and steel. The process is said to be an inexpensive and convenient process developed for in- house use eliminating the need for metal parts to leave the production facil- ity for finishing by an outside contractor. The process requires no expensive cap- ital investment, short dwell time and replenishment is accomplished by ‘top- ping up’ when the solutions become weak so dumping of chemicals is not necessary. The uniform matt black finish is said to add to the perceived value of the finished article. In response to demand for a process that will black stainless steel and most ferrous and non-ferrous metals, Blackfast Chemicals offers the LP process, a cathodic electrophoretic process for depositing a tough, black pigmented coating onto any substrate that can normally be electroplated – including aluminium, brass, stainless steel and zinc diecastings. It can also be used to produce other colours. Blackfast Antiquing process is for darkening pewter, copper, brass, nickel and silver. Components can be relieved with an abrasive cloth if contrasting antique finish is required.
