new solar power installation is using ABB’s string inverters to cut the time needed to achieve a fully operational system, while providing more electrical protection than competing products. The installation, for fashion house David Nieper Ltd, is the first in the UK to use the ABB PVS300 string inverter and was installed by Greenheart Energy, one of the country’s leading system integrators for renewable energy projects. The project uses 50 kW peak, roof mounted solar panels. These are the highest powers that qualify for the government’s feed-in tariff scheme. The installation uses six, 8 kW string inverters. Four were mounted on one roof with another two mounted on a nearby roof. The six inverters each have three strings of solar panels, with 15 panels per string. One of the major advantages of the ABB PVS300 is its high 900 V input compared to comparable inverters which are limited to 600 V input. The high maximum DC voltage allows more photovoltaic modules to be connected in series, which results in higher string power for the same current.

The DMSK2 is a standalone, stainless steel, double door interlock specially designed for hygienic areas and suitable for all types of doors. Its minimal, smooth design helps reduce dirt traps while protecting workers from hazardous areas. DMSK2 is ideal for use in the food industry and any applications requiring hygienic processes. As part of an interlock
system, DM locks are used to control access to enclosed areas until a safe condition has been achieved. In a typical operation sequence, the key is inserted into the lock and turned; the actuator is disengaged and the door opened. The key remains trapped until the door is closed and the actuator re-engaged. The DMSK2 double door interlock allows up to two trap keys. The DM module benefits from a revolutionary head design which features a choice of 4 head rotation angles with an adjustment of 360° at 90° increments and 2 actuator entry points. The head, all internal contact components, actuators and keys are constructed using stainless steel. Tested to over 1,000,000 operations, the units have tamper resistant head mechanisms, and require minimal maintenance.
