isitors attending MACH will not only see the latest in metalcut- ting, forming and grinding that has long been at the heart of the exhibition but will also be able to experience emerging technologies and new processes from a host of world class companies. From additive manu- facturing to industrial laser applica- tions and advanced CAD/CAM to the latest developments in metrology, MACH will cater for all of the above. Visitors to the MACH website can see all the latest products and develop- ments being exhibited. Initial visitor pre-registration is already well ahead of 2010 and 2008 levels again pointing to a buoyant manufacturing sector and a positive exhibition.

MACH 2012 will host three new technology zones: the Welding Village, the Abrasives and Grinding Zone and the Engineering and Laser zone. Also, the Metalforming Machinery Makers' Association Pavilion has doubled in size in comparison to 2010. MACH 2012 pavilions are expected to provide an excellent opportunity for compa- nies across a range of diverse sectors to display their products.

Welding village proves popular at MACH 2012

he AWD (Association of Welding Distribution) has announced that almost 30 exhibitors from the UK and Europe have signed up for the AWD Welding World vil- lage at MACH 2012 which it is sponsoring. The ‘AWD Welding World Village’, features a seminar area and hospitality lounge facility and exhibitor stands devoted to high technology welding and cutting equip- ment, welding consumables, health and safety equipment, process gases and other ancillary products. Companies signed up to exhibit include Air Products with industrial gases, BOC showing a new welding pack for off- site maintenance and repair, Flextraction with fume and dust extraction systems, Gullco international exhibiting welding and cutting automation products. Also exhibiting are Brian Hyde showing high-performance industrial marking products for use in all types of manufacturing, Weldability-sif exhibiting MIG and MMA welding machines (pictured below) and safety equipment along with welding consumables, Abrasive Finishing with abrasive and finishing tools, Protem Gmbh with inside and outside clamping bevelling machines plus Orbital tube squaring machines and The Validation Centre (TVC) with a range of welding data logging equipment including the all new Mini Arc Logger (M.A.L.) Adrian Hawkins, AWD director and national chairman says: “The AWD plays a lead role in the promotion of manufacturing technology and in particular, the welding and thermal cutting processes. We are extremely pleased at the response we have had to the Welding World Village with 27 companies signed up to exhibit a wide range of welding, cutting, safety equipment, industrial gas technology and ancillary products. This is the first time welding products in such great number have been exhibited under one roof in the UK for some years and MACH 2012 being the UK’s leading manufacturing equipment show, is the ideal platform for welding companies to reach UK manufacturers.”

ture an Education and Training zone designed to further the MTA’s goal of promoting engineering based manufac- turing as a career to bright, young engi- neers. The zone will feature the AMRC’s Mantra 3D manufacturing simulator as well as Bloodhound, the supersonic car being built to showcase British engineering capability – and in the process break the 1,000mph barrier. A seminar programme will feature and offer networking opportunities for participants to meet the speakers and learn how they can put into practice what they have heard. The seminars continue the MACH 2012 theme of providing sector specific applications for new technologies and processes and will be a busy part of the event.

As well as metal cutting, forming and grinding, MACH 2012 will also showcase many emerging technologies and new processes

Commenting on the progress of MACH 2012, MTA President Simon Pollard says: “I’m delighted with the progress of MACH and the positive response from visitors to our exciting programme of new features, zones and seminars which has been developed for 2012. Combined with the buoyant data the MTA has released on engi- neering output and the capital goods sectors, the 2012 event is poised to be a fitting 100th anniversary for MACH.” Dr Martin Sharp, president of The Association of Laser Users (AILU) says: “The AILU has, for the first time, taken a pavilion area at MACH 2012, show- ing our confidence in the future growth of UK manufacturing and the future role of laser materials processing.” Tony Saunders, of Yamazaki Mazak says: “Mazak will be displaying a selection of our latest CNC lathes, machining centres and multi-tasking machines, from over 200 models across our range, several of which will be making their UK debut at MACH. Paul Rhodes, of the Engineering

Technology Group says: “MACH is a perfect showcase for the high technol- ogy, high productivity solutions we offer. We will have the latest genera- tion multi-tasking turning centre from Nakamura-Tome, the first 5-axis verti- cal machining centre from Feeler, one of the world’s largest machine tool manufacturers and Handtmann’s HBZ Compact Cell, a high productivity hor- izontal machining system for the aero- space industry and many more.” Nick Frampton, MD at Mills CNC says: “Mills CNC has taken out its biggest ever stand at MACH 2012 and will be showcasing 16 new, high-perfor- mance, high-quality and competitively- priced machines over the five day event.
