‘Doubling the business by 2016’: Weir Power & Industrial asks employees to play their part

Power & Industrial Managing Director Dean Jenkins

Weir Power & Industrial is looking forward to a productive year with the implementation of its new divisional strategy and the appointment of key people.

The divisional strategy - which was

approved in September 2011 - is the framework through which the goal of doubling the size of the business by 2016 will be achieved. The strategy focuses on four broad areas: market expansion, product development, sales focus and resources, with a continuing focus on safety and operational excellence. The strategy will maximise opportunities in the growth markets of conventional power, renewable energy and oil & gas, whilst continuing to focus on the market position in nuclear applications. Everyone in the division is being encouraged to play their part in achieving the goal with launch presentations delivered to employees at all divisional locations. Quarterly presentations by senior management and the multi-language

newsletter entitled ‘Driving Growth’, keep all employees up to date with progress. The strategy is being supported by the appointment of key people in the divisional management team to support driving top line growth while maintaining margins. Luke Logan joined in September 2011 as Divisional Engineering Director based at the divisional headquarters in East Kilbride. Luke previously held a number of senior engineering roles at Rolls Royce, the most recent of which was Global Head of Product Development. James Pickren joined as Divisional Sales Director in November 2011 and brings a wealth of commercial experience across different industries. He latterly worked for IMI Severe Services, as President of their nuclear division. Of the strategy, Divisional Managing

Director, Power & Industrial, Dean Jenkins commented, “I’m excited about the future. We have a strong 5 year growth plan and I ask all divisional employees to join me in playing their part.”
